put ANYTHING in an email you wouldn't want someone to see?
I feel like it's been AT LEAST 15-20 years if not longer.
So, why, if you work for an entity that is related to politics (and potential dirty tricks), where the probability of hacking is even greater than another business, would you ever write anything that could be misconstrued in an email??
I am just in awe

(42,770 posts)wonder what Repukes do - they seem to get their PR to surrogates out so efficiently - they all speak the same lines.
AHA - bet they handwrite and use Fax machines ! LOL. Can you hack a fax machine??

(8,421 posts)We actually TALKED to people.
On another note, I like the scene in Independence Day where the troops are talking to each other in Morse code so their computer messages won't be stolen.
Guess Repukes haven't figured out how email, the intertubes and video work! They always seemed shocked that someone can bring up what they formerly said or did.

(42,770 posts)Before, you could tell someone - yes, you would interoffice something later - but with fax, you had to do it that second same with email....you feel you have to respond quickly. forget about text That although benefits, it has added so much stress to our lives.
Personally, I like it better when the phone rang and you had no idea who it was - kind of a mystery

(874 posts)even when clients email us everything has to be approved (it's beyond ridiculous) so I end up not responding to emails and calling people or faxing them.
I agree...I work in finance and we have these strict rules and regulations...let alone working for a gov't entity I would just assume that someone is looking or trying to. But on the other hand email is an effective means of communication ...but until you can be 100% sure that the communications are safe I would be wary putting anything that can be misconstrued or damning in emails.

(42,770 posts)My friend got called to HR one day - on the dirty word list. She finally figured it out - her 80 yr old mom wrote her to tell her that she and her sister were going out to pick pussy willows.

(23,344 posts)... and I always tried to write emails with the same care I would use for a letter: spelling, complete sentences, courtesy.
I'm sure the people who worked for me thought I was a grammar and spelling nazi, because I critiqued their email for form as well as content. They were probably happy to see me retire.

(23,344 posts)I must admit, my emails would make for pretty dull reading. And, my "locker-room talk" is likewise dull: no talk of grabbing body parts, no talk of any assault/battery at all. Maybe some gloom&doom talk about the Detroit Lions. Or trash-talking an opponent's game, expecting the same in return.
