They really do think theyre winning ya know...

My niece who is registered Republican, voted for Hillary this week. And she's left leaning, she just followed the influence of her parents when it came to politics.

But here's the thing. You know how Google works right? It will feed you results relevant to your bubble? Well, she gets right wing slanted results when it comes to her news feed. She told me there's an article that stated Trump was ahead in seven states, including our own, NC.

But here on DU I see reports of Hillary ahead in ALL STATES.

I want to confirm, where is NC? And, which bubble is right? This shit is crazy.

I don't WANT TO BELIEVE Trump is ahead in my state but I can confirm when I drive home and see giant Trump signs posted along the route with a group of Trump supporters who like to wave signs and wave at traffic on the bridge over the highway, it feels a little too real. And there's little to no Hillary enthusiasm around where I am. And I'm in RTP.

1. So did Romney, or so they say. Don't believe the lies.

There is a psychological advantage to being the perceived winner before an election, and even when they know it isn't true, they have to maintain the con to keep that edge among supporters. Otherwise, they lose another percentage point and that has coattails, esp. when the losing candidate's voters skip voting altogether.

So, what was Romney going to do, say, "Oh we were just pretending." No, he goes down in history as thinking he was winning right to the bitter end everyone else saw coming. Trump will do the same, pretend to the end to con his supporters and keep the money flowing in. They really are making a strong play for people's money with all this close election talk and trending polls bullshit. Send in one more donation and we will win is a huge con job.

4. Republicans need lots more confirmation signage than liberals.

They need all those props to keep their fragile bubbles inflated. They think they're winning because in their alt-reality everything they see reinforces that fallacy. There is no daylight that penetrates the surreal microcosm they live in. They only have to look around their bubble to see that the major polls are lying, the media is lying.

Like all their neighbors, they wear Trump regalia and Trump bling, and decorate their cars with Trump bumper stickers, they all display lots of Trump merchandize in their homes and flaunt Trump signs in their yards. They go to Fauxnews and rightwing radio, and read all the pro-trump forums, the blogs and pundits to reinforce the impression that Trump is winning. If they go to a Trump rally they are surrounded by thousands of like minded people who all encourage and reinforce the view that Trump is winning.

When the reckoning comes on Nov. 9, their shock will be yuge!

10. Maybe Hillary people just don't feel the need to make a public display.

Or they like other types of Hillary gear more than signs. I'm not into the yard signs, and since I live on a private road no one would see them anyway. I ordered some other Hillary merchandise as memorabilia for America's first woman President, but they are more like keepsake items. I have some buttons, a bumper stick and a t-shirt,and I want to order one more that say's 'women's rights are human rights'. The only thing I've actually used is the t-shirt which got me a couple of thumbs up at the grocery store. LOL

6. "It will feed you results relevant to your bubble?"

DU does that for me. Google, no.

"But here on DU I see reports of Hillary ahead in ALL STATES."

The only time I have seen that claim made here on DU it was the primaries and the poster is now a verified troll. They were not pretending to support Clinton. They were pretending to support another candidate.

I would check this out.

I was told for months how these were signs of a strong campaign. These metrics truly were put to rest just months ago.

NC is not a sure thing. It is looking pretty good.

Show them actual numbers and not rely on "feelings" or stupid signs. I personally have much better things to do rather than wave around signs - like phonebank and vote, for instance.

8. If you knock doors, you'll find plenty of enthusiastic Hillary voters. with no yard signs.

I went out Saturday as a volunteer w the campaign. Everyone I spoke with was totally fired up to vote. Only a couple had yard signs.

Yard signs do not vote.

I don't know what you,re able to do this year re GOTV efforts, but if you can, get out there. It is much better to do that then get depressed over yard signs.
