An interesting LTE in our local paper today.

Letter: Republican Crop Has No Real Plan

I try to watch any political speech or debate because I like to know what I am facing if that person should be elected. I did not vote for President Barack Obama, but I liked him as a candidate and have liked him as president. I said if the Republicans ever got sense enough to run John McCain I would vote for him because he cares what happens to our country. They did run McCain, after a disastrous eight years of the Bush administration, in which he started an expensive war and practically bankrupted the U.S. They then handicapped McCain with the wrong candidate for vice president. I voted Republican, with a prayer nothing would happen to McCain.

I do not have to watch it all to understand the main aim of the current Republican Party is to get Obama out of office, and they have no plan or any interest in bringing the country out of the mess it is in. Bush created a mess with war and taxes. The Republican candidates seem to think President Obama should have the mess cleaned up in four years, with them fighting him all the way. That is foolish! Our president has done all he can, and some reliable sources say he has done as well as possible.

The Republican candidates are foolish. When they get through the elections and one wins, they will have to back the person they said all the mean things about. I just wish they would cooperate with getting the country back on track. I am not rich, but I could pay more taxes if they were going to help keep our programs going. We like to give, not have it taken away from us.

This time I will vote for President Obama.

Fort Smith is a very conservative area. This is surprising.

For a person to move from one side to the other and then write a letter about it is astounding! What a wonderful indicator of things to come! Thanks so much for sharing this with us. K&R!
