Rep. DesJarlais, who had affairs with his med patients, says he won’t resign

In an interview with the Knoxville News Sentinel, DesJarlais said he regretted his actions during his first marriage, and that he had exhibited, “very poor judgment.” Yet the congressman, who was just reelected this year as the allegations began to unfold, said he intended to still serve the voters who had propelled him back into office.

The story exploded in mid-October when The Huffington Post obtained a transcript of a call between Desjarlais—who presents himself as a family values, firmly anti-abortion politician—and one mistress in which Desjarlais allegedly pressured the woman to get an abortion. Desjarlais did not deny the allegations when presented with them, but he brushed them aside as politically motivated.

I often wonder why Democratic Reps are forced to resign but the GOP Reps can continue on as if no one cares.

1. My Dad, and MD, would've tried to get his license revoked for the ethics

charge. And, being pro-life, he would've been disgusted with him over the abortions and the pressure for his girlf fried to get an abortion.

Dad was a conservative "R", but he was dead serious about ethics and morality.

who paid for his teenage daughter's abortion? And, that was just one that became public - I'm sure there have been other abortions for the daughters of prominent Republicans that have been done more quietly.

He's a Republican. They tell everyone else what to do. No one tells them what to do.

hypocrite that twists himself in knots to justify his actions. As usual we see a holier than thou idiot telling people to do what he says and not what he does.

He would have been suspended until being dragged in front of the ethics committee then struck off.

But hey, he got elected and voters knew about most allegations.
