Greg Sargent: Romney Likely to End Up at 47%

When all the votes are counted, could Mitt Romney really end up achieving perfect poetic justice by finishing with 47 percent of the national vote? Yup. Dave Wasserman of the nonpartisan Cook Political Report says new votes in from Maryland put Romney at 47.56 percent. He predicts with certainty that with all of New York and California counted, Romney will end up below 47.5 percent of the vote.

Rounded, of course, that would put the final tally at 51-47. Anticipating this moment, Markos Moulitsas has inaugurated the “Romney 47 percent watch.”

As Sargent said, talk about poetic justice.

Won't that be Ironic.Romney with 47 percent of popular vote. And Obama winning 51 to 47 In popular vote.

This says most of Obama's voters stayed with him.Only 1 percent nationwid went from Obama 2008 to Romney 2012.And another 1
percent went to various Independent and third parties.

that have the largest percentage of non-income tax payers and the same states collect more
federal money than they pay. So in reality he sort of carried the 47% he said he didn't care about.

Teach It Greg Sargent!..

Romney’s widely criticized post-election remarks — in which he claimed Obama won by giving core Dem constituencies “gifts” — were essentially a reprise of the 47 percent remarks. Romney reiterated in overly blunt terms what many Republicans and conservatives have been saying for years — and got disemboweled by his own party after detailing these views out loud, a fitting coda to his candidacy.

The "other" vote staying the same (1.69), Obama would have to get to 50.82 to drive Romney down to 47.49, allowing us to "officially" claim that he only got 47 per cent of the vote!

on average, those states have a 20-25 percent margin for Obama.

that's why Wasserman is estimating Mitt will end up below 47.5, he even said "bet on it". And Wasserman dutifully updates his spreadsheet as he gets updated information from throughout the USA county by county!

Hopefully that will give Obama some more votes, as well as prevent Ohio Republicans from getting 60 seats in the statehouse (apparently they are at 58): http://www.wksu.org/news/story/33837

You smug son of a bitch! I hope you are forever haunted by 47%, being beaten by Honey Boo Boo, as well as Obama. Talk about feeling entitled! He doesn't deserve to carry the water of a decent hard working man. Good riddance!
