Related: About this forumSad what Trump will do to an historic election
The election of the first female president of the US could possibly be dogged by his hateful nonesense. Much as the first black president had to contend with the Birthers garbage he spewed. God What a piece of garbage that man is.

(89,254 posts)Rubio would have been exposed as being lazy and not very smart. it would not have gotten to the level of ugly we see now. it might have been closer . but i think he is mostly a weak candidate . Kasich would have been the real threat and i hate to admit this but maybe Cruz also.
the Obama campaigns would have been much uglier if the nominee was someone like gingrich .

(297,349 posts)But, fitting too.. that the first woman to be nominated by one of the major parties has to take down a misogynist, sexual predator, a racist, and a sociopathic liar.
The repub party candidates couldn't beat him but Hillary will! And, us!

(27,630 posts)Donald Trump losing to Hillary Clinton is a positive thing. And also, Donald Trump contributed to this historic election by being the buffoon he is.

(2,505 posts)... but I cannot. For they are a bizarre mixture of, horrror, joy, sadness, humour, obsessive interest, schadenfreude, fear, relief... the list goes on. And it's not over yet. Even with the almost certainly of Clinton winning, it's pretty clear that Trump will not go quietly, neither will his hard-core base.
As a Canadian, it may look very easy from my city in Victoria BC... (a city that is so close to the US. For the beautiful, serene lovely Olympic Mountains in WA, tower over our city only 20 miles or so across the strait) ... to observe from a distance. But it's not.
I can't speak for all Canadians, but I can for many. In Canada (as with most other countries in the World), we have watched the rise of Trump with alarm. For we, along with the rest of the word are only too aware that a Donald Trump-like figure in the White House, having access to the nuclear codes, could effectively wipe out all or much of the life on our planet.
For Trump is not merely an American concern, he is a threat to the entire World.
I joined DU around 2004 (I think), but never thought I'd ever make a post like this. Ever.
To all of you. We have your back. And please believe me when I say that I (personally) know of no Canadians who support Trump. The general feeling is that he is insane (and I mean that literally).
