2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTrump is not another Hitler. He's another Caligula
Philo of Alexandria and Seneca the Younger describe Caligula as an insane emperor who was self-absorbed, angry, killed on a whim, and indulged in too much spending and sex. He is accused of sleeping with other men's wives and bragging about it,[[99] killing for mere amusement,[100] deliberately wasting money on his bridge, causing starvation, and wanting a statue of himself erected in the Temple of Jerusalem for his worship.[95] Once, at some games at which he was presiding, he ordered his guards to throw an entire section of the crowd into the arena during intermission to be eaten by animals because there were no criminals to be prosecuted and he was bored.

Tiberius, Caligula, Nero. Yup. Trump would have been a really "good" fit.

I think to many people want to use the comparison with Hitler because Hitler has become this mythological figure of evil.
Trump frankly isn't smart enough to be Hitler. Hitler was a loser who rose to incredible power. Trump was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Both were/are awful human beings, and neither should ever have any power, but having to constantly claim that Trump is a carbon copy of Hitler gets old. It's enough that he sucks on his own merits and Clinton is better on her own merits.
