2016 Postmortem

I just returned home from a DR's appt. I was talking to my doctor about Trump and my Doc shared how he feels. He said he has boycotted Home Depot and SavOn pharmacy. He asked me to choose another pharmacy because he learned Savon was ran by republicans. He said Trump is not different from what republicans believe and their refusal to vote on a SCOTUS has made him decide not to do business with any known republicans.

(2,542 posts)Valid economic boycotts over a business policy or practice are one thing. A boycott over ownership's political affiliation is something else, and more dangerous to everyone than most GOP policies. It's also a slippery slope, because once started, where does it end? Would you end a years-long friendship over a vote with which you disagree?
Liberals shouldn't support excluding others because of who they are.

(14,857 posts)Republican family members: Mostly silent about politics unless they're hosting. Then it's inevitable.
Barbers (in my area): Talk about their Republican support after they've started cutting your hair.
Business managers: Force their GOP ideas on others, with many liberal-minded employees afraid to contradict them due to job retention worries.

I finally had enough this weekend and nearly removed the head of a guy I've been putting up with his racist bullshit for 20+ years.
And I didn't feel bad about it the next day either.
