2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBack in 1959, I was a 14 year old HS freshman.
First day in PE class, the "coach" told us the rules. First rule was:
No grab-ass in the gym!
Second rule was:
Treat all girls with respect!
Third rule was:
In the shower, make sure you wash your ass and your balls!
Those were the rules. I have followed all three all of my adult life. Maybe Donald Trump should have been in my PE class. He missed the first two rules, and I don't wan't to know if he follows the third one.

(146,331 posts)At 14, there were still lessons to learn, I guess. "Coach" knows best.

(146,331 posts)That was his entire knowledge of behavior, etiquette and hygiene rules. He was a man of few word, and probably of few thoughts.
If I remember correctly, the next thing he said was:
"Now, drop and give me 10!"

He is a good argument for celibacy.

(108,995 posts)He had even gone to a doctor and had x-rays that had shown some deterioration. We were worried. And he was in pain.
One day I noticed what he did when he came out of the shower -- he shook his head, hard, to get the water off -- like a dog shaking water off.
I asked him why he did that. His coach had taught them to do that.
Why? Because they only had one little towel each.
We had plenty of towels and I told him he should use them, even for his hair.
Problem solved. But I've often wondered how many of this coach's former students are still violently shaking their heads after a shower and wondering why they have neck problems.

(146,331 posts)My "coach's" three basic rules, though, are pretty good ones to follow, I think. The head-shaking thing, though...not so smart. That "coach" must have slept through some college classes, I think.
