2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDU: 'firebombing' of RNC HQ in NC. Focus on Dallas Woodhouse. He's a Rove with a LOT to hide.
Last edited Mon Oct 17, 2016, 08:17 AM - Edit history (2)
He's the one who crafted the memo sent to County Board of Elections for reps to shamelessly ACT partisan.
For 'everything' inside to be burned, my very first thought was Dallas Woodhouse is covering something up to save his own ass and his own party here. "Leave Town Or Else" Really? Does that sound like something a Democratic activist or even a lefty anarchist would spray paint?
NC, as of today was getting out of reach for Republicans. This act smells more like desperation to me. There is absolutely NO reason to believe this firebombing came from Democrats - NONE.
There is plenty of reason to suspect it's a desperate dirty trick from Woodhouse who was about to oversee the loss of a Governor's seat, a US Senate seat, and a State Supreme Court.
He and Pat McCrory are already jumping up and down with indignation, calling it terrorism and an attack on democracy itself.

We need to nail this sucker because NC controls whether we take charge of the Senate. No way would a major campaign office NOT have security video running 24/7. We HAVE to stay on top of Dallas Woodhouse.

(11,868 posts)There is ZERO chance of absentee ballots or any other ballots being in a field office. Absentee ballots are sent into and handled by the County Board of Election at the County Court House Building , wherever that may be in relation to any field office in the country. I know this because I used to work for the CBOE in New Jersey.
So... not only is that bullshit... it is ignorant bullshit and no anyone who has ever worked an election would know that.
So... claiming there were ballots in the office is a YUGE signal to me that this is a false flag intended to whip up a base ignorant of how ballots are actually collected and counted. It is also symptomatic of the lazy and complicit media, who almost certainly know better.

(53,782 posts)He should do some research on Rove who is now shunned in repug circles.
He could start with Rove's meltdown on FOX on election night 2012 to see what happens to people like that.
Karma is a bitch.
Rove didn't go to jail like he should have for outting Valerie Plame, among other things, but he is now a persona non grata non-person in repug insider circles for the $117M he sucked up from big donors and then squandered while guaranteeing a Romney victory.
Rove is as much toast as Trump and Woodhouse will be in 22 days.

(13,081 posts)Except insurance won't pay out if it was arson. I'm not normally a conspiracist, but I've seen Republicans fake attacks too many times not to at least be open to the possibility.

(13,081 posts)A friend of mine (in Nevada) had his apartment burn down. The fire was started by a meth lab two doors down.
He had insurance, but because the fire resulted from the commission of a felony, the insurance company didn't have to pay out. It didn't matter who started the fire or even where it was started.

(5,624 posts)He sent directives to all of the GOP members of local boards of elections urging them to make party line changes in early voting.
The N.C. Republican Party encouraged GOP appointees to county elections boards to make party line changes to early voting by limiting the number of hours and keeping polling sites closed on Sundays.
NCGOP executive director Dallas Woodhouse emailed the request to Republican county board members and other party members on Sunday. The News & Observer obtained copies of the emails through a public records request.
County elections boards are developing new early voting schedules in response to a federal court ruling that threw out the states voter ID law. In addition to revoking North Carolinas photo ID requirement, the ruling requires counties to offer 17 days of early voting .
Woodhouse suggests limiting early voting hours because the sites allow voters to use same-day registration a practice the voter ID law sought to eliminate.
We believe same-day registration is ripe with voter fraud, or the opportunity to commit it, he wrote. Same-day registration is only available during early voting. We are under no obligation to offer more opportunities for voter fraud.

(7,723 posts)this totally benefits the GOP, and doesn't sound like the act of a Dem who wants to win
Tom Rivers
(459 posts)no dem that actually wants to win the state would do something like this at this stage of the game. the story gets sympathy for the GOP and gives them a talking point about hate from the other side to shield their own hateful rhetoric.
i'm not saying it couldn't be a dem, but as close as north carolina will be it just feels like the GOP doing anything to keep from losing that state because they know trump has no path without it.

Clearly, this is the kind of action we could expect from some of the Trump partisans against the Hillary campaign, much more so than the other way around... what better way to counteract the effect of some of the rhetoric coming from their own side, and possibly gain sympathy, than to stage a supposed attack from the left?
