He was never popular.

1. It's exactly what you'd expect from political amateurs

Major party candidates start with approximately 40% of the vote share each. That's what you're handed at the beginning of the game. The whole game involves moving the additional 20% into your column.

To still be stuck at around 40, and in many polls, less than 40, means you've completely misunderstood the purpose of the game.

The purpose of the game is not to simply hold the 40 you're given at the outset. Anybody nominated by a major party can be expected to do that.

The purpose of the game is to peel 10+1 of the remaining 20 (or variations for additional players). Trump is and has been completely unable to do that. He has, perhaps, held and intensified his 40. But that's to be expected. That's base level participation. He has won over none. He may have actually ceded some of the given 40. For a major party canddiate to be polling in the mid-to-high 30's in mid-October is a disaster.

The trolls and Trump supporting "progressives" keep shouting "Why isn't Clinton winning by more? Why? Why?" Pay them no heed. They want to make you think that the game is about winning all the points. It's not. Trump is stuck on the points he's handed at the outset. He may even have lost some of his expected, given points.

He's about as bad at this game as anyone we've ever seen. It's amateur hour.
