Related: About this forumWalmart and Hostess - are the plutocrats under siege?
I've seen a lot of info on these two companies the last few days. Now, i am connected to a lot of lefty sites, so I'm not surprised by the info or to be receiving it. But if this info is getting out into the mainstream, people may finally connect the dots.

(176 posts)Hostess is going out of business due to bad management. Happens all the time.
Wal-Mart is having some scattered strike actions affecting no more than a few
dozen locations, which will fizzle out just like OWS did.

_ several people are spreading the information that Walmart benefits from corporate welfare; that the rest of us are picking up the cost of feeding , housing and providing medical care for Walmart employees because Walmart doesn't pay enough.
- the info on Hostess isn't just that the union didn't take it down, but also that while the union did accept cutbacks, the managers looted the company.

(34,661 posts)Lets see what Wally-World and their workers. Notice I didn't use the word Associates, that is so untrue of their employees, they are more like endured servants. Won't be seeing this household kissing the Walton ring, finally found a source for the one item we purchase at the Redneck Mall.
Well gang,we the Taxpayers are going to be picking up the Pension Tab for all of Hostess Employees. Notice that all of their Pensions funds disappeared into managements bank account. USA,USA,ERISA will have to bail these folks out at probably 10 cents on the dollar. And the Repuks want to F-up Social Security, give me a break. We know folks with 35+ years of service that will only get if lucky 200-250 a month pension after this debacle. USA_USA_!!!!!!!

(20,214 posts)Their revenue and earnings are up but their margins are down. Since they operate on microthin margins as it is, they really have nowhere to go but down considering they cater to low income buyers who have been hit the hardest by the economic downturn. In terms of their stock, Walmart has rebounded almost 50% since the bottom of the crash, but Target has gone up 150%. Costco's stock, who treat their employees very well, is up 135% since the crash.

(392 posts)I have not had any of these gross products that can last for years in the past 20 years. If you want to be healthy a person has to cut a few things that just are not good for your health. I buy other things for the kids because everyone needs junk food. Then as we get older we can cut the bad stuff.
