1. eh, Emerson polls are landline only with a fudge factor added to compensate.

There are good polls showing NC and VA still doing well. VA is locked up and we're very likely to win in NC.

OH is a state that usually votes according to whom downscale white guy losers resent more. In 2008 it was Bush, in 2012 it was Mitt Romney, looks like they resent Clinton more than Trump this time around.

RCP average confirms this. Wouldn't put too much weight or worry into that NBC/Marist poll, GT!😎

6. the polls showing Clinton ahead there have largely been junk or internet

polls.

Live person, cell and landline polls have consistently shown Trump ahead there.

Something wrong with that place.

Insisting that Clinton will lose Ohio is geek's little obsession this election cycle.

It's not worth getting into a debate over.

geek. No harm meant, but I think you're wrong and silly about it this time 'round. Still love ya, buddy.

5. LOL! You've shown a special animosity toward Ohio for awhile now.

Is there a story behind that?

I wish it was more blue too, but I haven't seen you moan about states like Iowa and Missouri nearly as much.

7. Iowa is a fairly deep red state that flirted with Obama twice but now hates him.

Not a surprise that the state that gave us Jodi Ernst and Steve King is voting for the white nationalist.

Missouri is a red state because the white people there really like misogyny and racism. Trump will win handily there.

Ohio is supposed to be a swing state, but it's proving to be a state that is too eager to embrace a white nationalist misogyinist sexual predator.

Ohioans have become MORE likely to vote for Trump since he's been shown to be a proud member of the serial sexual assault club.

I despise Trump supporters--all of them.

8. I think Ohio would be solid blue without the southern part of it.

There's pockets of ignorance everywhere, but it's more prominent in those parts.

I went camping/fishing at a place called Paint Creek Lake years ago, and the locals reminded me of the hicks in "Deliverance."

That's my impression without looking at any data. Southern Ohio is like Kentucky and West Virginia. Even "Cincitucky" often goes red despite being a fairly large city.

10. most states in the east have a sizeable swath of backwards hillbillies

upstate NY is really depressing to drive through once you get out of the Hudson valley.

Difference between OH and states like NY and PA is that those states have (1) larger urban centers (NYC, Phillly) and (2) sizeable concentrations of educated white voters in the suburbs

11. They weighted the sample by party affiliation, which is a questionable

thing to do, because party affiliation is subject to change. Just because there was X percent of Republicans in 2008 or 2012 doesn't mean there are that many now.

13. I looked at the NC sample details for this poll and while it was split fairly well by party,

the political leanings were very much tilted towards conservative & very conservative. The real adjustment for these polls (for NC anyways) should be a 4-5 point shift to the Blue side. So Clinton would be up by a larger margin and Ross may have a slight lead.
