(10,252 posts)She has no equal in the public speech department. They broke the mold when Michele was born.

(9,581 posts)Damn, she is GOOD! I hope like hell she runs for office of some kind. Her speech was amazing.
ETA And you know her speech is more than "just words." She is an outstanding human.

(1,005 posts)It's an open secret that Michelle despises politics along with the hype, media circus and games surrounding it. It's why she want's out of DC as soon as humanly possible. It's the same reason why Barak isn't going to get appointed to the Supreme Court anytime soon.
Personally, I's prefer her to speak openly and candidly as a former First Lady, and not as someone running for political office. She wouldn't have to worry that something she says is going to hurt her campaign.

(7,288 posts)8 years was horrendous and ugly, the vile repigs were just warming up.

(28,341 posts)She's so much stronger than that. She's fighting for all of us. As a little girl, she beat up a neighborhood boy for giving away some helpless baby bunnies after he promised not too. That little girl will be our President, and she won't run away from a second term because some boys were mean.

(7,288 posts)be cuing up for all kinds of obstruction and hearings when she gets in. You've had 8 years where the president wasn't being investigated and under hearings continuously, that will end. I think the repigs plan will be to make the public so distrustful and disgusted with her that they'll not accept another 4 years from her. The deplorables are already there and will be on overdrive to infect the public. You're also now going to have to work with all the Russian cyber/wilileaks BS because I don't think they are going to stop Inauguration Day.

(7,288 posts)are in essence public service. The RW keep spewing about Hillary's 30 years as a politician so they are going as far back as to when Bill was an AG of AK.

(1,184 posts)Beautifully spoken, powerful words, and delivered with an authority and connection often better than Clinton. Just really, really good.
I think I'd like to see her leave politics and focus on affecting change outside the Washington infrastructure. I imagine the Obamas creating their own foundations, working for young women and the poor, addressing issues of sexual assault in the workplace and military, etc. Both Obamas are highly respected around the world, and I can see both of them having a stately aura like Nelson Mandela took on after leaving the presidency of South Africa.
As I type this, I'm also reminded of Eleanor Roosevelt, "First Lady of the World." She was an activist for human rights and other causes she was passionate about, and I believe Michelle Obama can maintain her high esteem and influence by stepping away from electoral politics.

(15,951 posts)She would be a fine president and candidate, but I highly doubt she wants it. Just because Hillary wanted to pursue a political career doesn't mean every First Lady now will do so.

(13,598 posts)To make a credible shot at the presidency, she'd need to spend time in other senior political roles first - governor, senator, cabinet, etc. '24 strikes me as too soon.
And, frankly, I'm not crazy about the idea that being first lady is a stepping stone to the presidency.
