The cyberattack on our campaign and the DNC is a modern-day Watergate. What did Donald Trump know and when did he know it?

(7,723 posts)I think it's kind of disgraceful these hacked emails are getting so much play. It's not like the emails even show anything illegal.

(3 posts)The FBI has already confirmed that the Florida, Illinois and Arizona voter databases have been hacked by Russians over last six months. These are the hacks we know about! If hordes of registered democrats are suddenly "not registered" on election day and/or exit polls veer significantly from actual vote totals, we know there's been a subverted election process. At the very least, democrats who find they are not registered when going to vote,, must complete a provisional ballot. Also, this is why every state voting system needs a PAPER TRAIL!

(9,670 posts)Maybe the deplorables don't think so - they're flagrantly anti-American, pro-batshitcrazy - but for literally everyone else in the country, this unexplored yet obvious nexus to Russia should be worth a million faux Benghazis. I hope the media shifts its attention to this aspect of Trump between now and November 8th. Americans need to know how close we've come to electing a treasonous bastard into the White House.

(43,190 posts)is only going to be cleared up if HRC is elected
Donald for obvious reasons would just sweep it under the rug

(9,670 posts)For a veritable criminal offense against the United States...as opposed to the Trumped-up charges the Deplorables want to hang on HRC!

(43,190 posts)would have to have strong proof that is unassailable
For example, the usual spy cases are selling secrets or foreign
contacts for money
This is cyber, with intermediaries, so the chain of ownership would
have to be air tight for a positive end result, and it's carried out
overseas where none of the parties would cooperate or have incentive
to cooperate. I'll believe it when I see it, only because it's a steep
hill to climb.

(1,074 posts)There should be enough reason now to have to subpoena for his tax returns, right?? I mean what better, easier way is there to know about his ties to Russia, than his tax returns!!

(9,600 posts)It sounds pretty strange that Roger Stone has a contact that stays in touch with wikileaks founder Julian Assange. Even though Assange is locked up in the Ecuadorean Embassy in London. Think about it, Assange has Russian intelligence officers passing US hacked documents to Assange inside an Embassy, plus Roger Stone's contact can go in and out of that same Embassy without any problems. This contact can coordinate with both Stone and Assange? Leaked state department documents come out of that Embassy? Who is the spy here?

(14,566 posts)needs to get some republican style discipline over this issue:
We will no longer respond to wikileaks or e-mail hacks.
Because:
1) It is very clear at this point that these attacks are being facilitated by the russian government. We will not play a role in their effort to meddle in our election by commenting on them.
2) FURTHER, many of these leaks and e-mails have proven to be made up. The media is now overwhelmed and simply does not have the time with so many being foisted into the public spectrum on a daily basis to determine if they are falsified or not.
3) Finally, there is a clear pattern of Donald Trump knowingly or unknowingly BOTH use state falsified information as fact AND mischaracterize things to his benefit.
Nothing is more important to the american elective process than to ensure that the information being put forward is accurate. It is unfortunate that we have a foreign country injecting itself in our process, and a candidate who willingly or unknowingly had made himself a tool toward that end. But we need to careful and ensure the veracity of this information before we comment on it at this point.
