How Half Of America Lost Its F**king Mind (Why Trumpers Exist)

http://www.cracked.com/blog/6-reasons-trumps-rise-that-no-one-talks-about/

#6. It's Not About Red And Blue States -- It's About The Country Vs. The City

I was born and raised in Trump country. My family are Trump people. If I hadn't moved away and gotten this ridiculous job, I'd be voting for him. I know I would.

See, political types talk about "red states" and "blue states" (where red = Republican/conservative and blue = Democrat/progressive), but forget about states. If you want to understand the Trump phenomenon, dig up the much more detailed county map. Here's how the nation voted county by county in the 2012 election -- again, red is Republican:

#5. City People Are From A Different Goddamned Planet

"But isn't this really about race? Aren't Trump supporters just a bunch of racists? Don't they hate cities because that's where the brown people live?"

Look, we're going to get actual Nazis in the comment section of this article. Not "calling them Nazis for argument points" Nazis, but actual "Swastikas in their avatars, rooted against Indiana Jones" Nazis. Those people exist.

But what I can say, from personal experience, is that the racism of my youth was always one step removed. I never saw a family member, friend, or classmate be mean to the actual black people we had in town. We worked with them, played video games with them, waved to them when they passed. What I did hear was several million comments about how if you ever ventured into the city, winding up in the "wrong neighborhood" meant you'd get dragged from your car, raped, and burned alive. Looking back, I think the idea was that the local minorities were fine ... as long as they acted exactly like us.

Click the link above and read the whole thing and see the pictures. It is powerful and true.

I grew up in the country too. I know people I grew up with who think like this and we don't understand each other anymore. I've fought like a mofo to get to the city because of many idealistic reasons and it is ridiculously expensive and small. My 5% down payment on my small condo is as much as my parents' whole house. Friends back home think I've lost my mind and they're probably right. They think I'll get cancer from the air pollution and they are probably right about that too.

They know we look down on them as fat, stupid, worthless, bigots, and they resent us for it. They dig their heels in even deeper.

Someone I know who has been mostly a nice but conservative religious woman just shared that she'd rather have Trump grab some actress's pussy than have cross dressing men with her daughter in the ladies room.

I can relate to this article.

I like this line: "The howls of elite outrage are like the sounds of bombs landing on the enemy's fortress. The louder the better."

My mom's family lived on the road just on this side from Point Pleasant, West Virginia, were pretty poor, but like most down there voted for republicans who make sure they stay poor. Brown County Ohio is the poorest county I think and they vote solidly red, totally against their own interest but they cannot grasp that.

Dems depend on mostly the Columbus area and NE Ohio to carry the day in Ohio. There are some wealthy republican suburbs around Columbus, but going by one such area I counted 12 Hillary signs to two Trump ones, even many of the well to do cannot stomach that orange perverted clown. Cincinnati is pretty split but it's urban area spills into Kentucky. All in all Hillary is close to a lock here.

And I'm sure, like all women, I've shared a public restroom with a cross dresser or two, it's much ado about nothing.

You might try to let her know that these women were not just beauty contestants and actresses. One article I saw today was about a woman who sat next to him on an airplane -- didn't know him, was flying for business -- and Trump started groping her, putting his hand up her skirt and so on -- or so the story went. That woman could have been anybody. Anybody's daughter, anybody's sister or wife. You might ask your "nice but conservative religious woman" friend whether she would rather have her daughter groped by Trump, or use the same bathroom as Caitlin Jenner.

It could go either way, but it would be interesting to know what she said if she answered.

Here's the link to an NYT article about it (I Googled it just for you to have it). There seems to be a video there too.

is lost on most Trumpers.

Every woman is someone.

I wouldn't ask someone if they would have their daughter groped by Trump. That's disgusting.

But I did see Trumpers using his language in motivational picture memes. Like "grab today by the pussy". They think it's hilarious.
