Russian roulette: Mike Pence caught lying during debate about his own Vladimir Putin remarks

During the vice presidential debate on Tuesday evening, Mike Pence couldn’t seem to make up his mind whether he wanted to toe his running mate Donald Trump’s admiring view of Vladimir Putin, or carve out his own opposite view of Putin. But even as Pence alternately tried to take both sides during the course of the evening, his biggest Russia flub came when Tim Kaine accused him of having said that Putin was a stronger “leader” than President Obama, which Pence denied. But archived video is making the fact checkers’ job easy in this instance.

“Governor Pence said inarguably Vladimir Putin is a better leader than President Obama,” Tim Kaine asserted during the debate.

“That is absolutely inaccurate,” Mike Pence interjected. “I said he’s been stronger on the world stage.”

“No you said leader,” insisted Kaine.

All it took was a quick google search to confirm that Mike Pence had in fact previously said that Putin was a “stronger leader” than Obama, as quoted in major newspapers.

CNN prompted fact checked Mike Pence in real time on-air by trotting out a video clip of Pence saying last month that “I think it’s inarguable that Vladimir Putin has been a stronger leader in his country than Barack Obama has been in this country.” - DailyNewsBin

Few missed that Pence lie. Nobody at our debate party did either.

Pence is going to get dumped on for his lie: "Putin has been a stronger leader"

is really bizar. I have tried to understand it, but I can't. There is a correlation between voting for Trump and liking Putin though.

bizzare, they like him not because he is actually right when it comes to foreign policy, they love him just because he is stands up to Obama which they see as a sign that Obama is weak. The love would have disappeared had Romney won the presidency and had continued with the warphilic policies of Obama.
