Man hat dich auf manchem Fehler betroffen!
Us:
You crazy fool, admit it:
You have been caught with many a mistakes!
Er:
Jawohl! doch macht ich ihn wieder gut.
Him:
Indeed! But I made good on it.
Wir:
Wie denn?
Us:
How?
Er:
Ei, wie's ein jeder tut.
Him:
Well, the way everybody does it.
Wir:
Wie hast du denn das angefangen?
Us:
How did you do that?
Er:
Ich hab einen neuen Fehler begangen,
Darauf waren die Leute so versessen,
Daß sie des alten gern vergessen.
Him:
I made a new mistake,
and the people were so obsessed with it
that they willingly forgot the old one.
