Pence would not have won reelection in Indiana. People loathe him for among other things the disastrous "religious freedom" nonsense that killed the state economically.

How public schools here continue to have money funnel away in favor of his voucher program, our roads are a goddammed disgrace, some school systems can't afford to bus their kids, and how he systematically disenfranchised voters by removing power from democratically elected State Superintendent oF Schools in favor of his appointed board.

Oh yeah, and he used campaign funds for personal expenses in his first campaign.

He is a fucking dirt bag.

He did not even try to defend Trump's actual words. He just lied and said Trump never said them. That way, Pence is not on record defending those words. It appears Pence was thinking ahead toward 2020. Either that or he is completely detached from reality. Or both.

However, beyond that he did a poor job defending Trump, didn't say anything notable, nor did he levy any effective attacks against Hillary Clinton. In November, people are going to be choosing between Hillary and Trump, they're not going to be thinking about the interruptions that occurred in a debate that the vast majority of voters didn't watch. In defending or boosting Trump's status or attacking Hillary, Pence failed. So overall, I'd call it a wash.

They're suppose to defend the top of the ticket forcefully. Kaine dominated Pence.
