(4,840 posts)But Patton at least had served before he slapped two soldiers in the face. And Patton was disciplined for that and rightly so.
How should people judge a lifetime civilian vying for the presidency when he metaphorically slaps every vet with PTSD in the face?

(11,686 posts)This man served his country to protect us and Trump and the one who refuses to pay him with taxes like everybody else is the one claiming he is not strong. If you served for peoples rights our taxes are what paid you and Trump says he is smart not to pay you for your service which most likely meant risking your life. If a fire started at Trumps home and he is unwilling to pay the fire personnel do they have to put out the fire?

(530 posts)Tax payers are still paying for veterans who have returned from wars (WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Panama, etc...) in the form of pensions, disability, and medical care for life (TriCare). Also, Donald Drumpf is receiving the free, "socialist" services that we taxpayers also pay in the form of fire and police protection. He gets to keep all the money that he steals off the backs of less fortunate individuals (i.e. those who were born into the lower "classes" and not given a fortune to play with) and receives all the services for absolutely nothing. Many of the power elite (which includes Donald Drumpf, BTW) do the same thing: they hire the best accountants to wind their way through all the tax loopholes that were created by the power elite to begin with. This right here should be the beginning of the revolution of we, the people, against the rich and powerful. If we boycott goods and services of companies that do not pay any taxes, who knows what kind of impact we could have?? I imagine it would be quite large, since we 5% of the global population consume 25% of everything.

(25,861 posts)I'm attempting to address the underlying issue about understanding serving in combat. Trump, despite his pitiful, bullshit attempts at connecting worrying about STDs to serving in combat, deserves to be totally treated with contempt.
And I'm also trying to say that those of us who never served, can't even begin to understand what it was like. Okay, so I can try to understand, but it's a bit like men trying to understand the experience of childbirth. Have you seen those videos where they hook men up to something that gives them something like the physical experience of labor? And how almost immediately they are screaming and begging to be set free? Similarly, those of us who were never in combat can only say, "We know it was tough" and we can try to understand, but in the end, we weren't there.
Of course, I rather expect that you fully understand what I said above. The Donald hasn't a clue. Never had, never will.
