nothing's keeping trump from releasing *a portion of* his taxes.
there's been plenty of speculation that what's in his returns might reveal.
who he owes money to, who he's made contributions to, who he's invested in, etc.
and this information may be in his full tax returns, with all schedules and attachments.
but there's nothing preventing him from releasing just his 1040 and various important schedules.
it would should high-level numbers, but nothing to identify who or where the numbers came from.
no indications of russian ties, etc.
this goes for old returns as well. his returns from the 1990's aren't under audit. nothing keeping his from releasing those.
the fact that he hasn't done even this means that there's (still) more embarrassing and/or illegal stuff that even the high-level numbers would reveal.
