a copy of hers & they filed a joint return. Since she sent it to them, she gave her permission to publish the info.
Hey Donnie, you gotta watch out for those disgruntled ex-wives.
I LOVE IT! Sorry I don't have a link. This was just announced on Thom Hartmann's show. If I find a leak, I'll add it.

(3,335 posts)I saw her do an interview sometime in the past year and she refused to say anything derogatory about Trump. (Probably some nondisclosure clause.) She said in that interview that she didn't get anything or it was very little, because she wanted to prove that she was marrying him because she loved him, not for money. She also said that he had provided well for their daughter's schooling. She has a child by Trump who is currently paying for her daughter's tuition while she is attending law school. Why would she rock the boat at this time, risking that, when there's no evidence that she hates him. Granted she has reason to. He made her sign a prenup which limited the amount she received to very little if they divorced before a certain period, (I believe 6 years of marriage) and then filed for divorce just before the period established in that prenup expired.

(26,623 posts)some real reporting going on, for a change.
As someone says in the comments--and as Rachel often talks about on her show--this is a great example of the importance of good local (even it's the NYT) investigation and old-fashioned shoe leather.

(6,537 posts)Only that the return has her signature as Maples was married to Trump's at the time. No one knows at this time who actually leaked it. I doubt if it was Maples, since she signed an NDA as part of the divorce settlement; and, since her name is on the return, it doesn't seem very likely that she would be the one to send it. The blowback from Trump would probably send her to the poor house, if not the psych ward. Lastly, she has a daughter with him and probably would not want any blowback on Tiffany. I don't think Trump is beyond trying to hurt Maples through their daughter; in fact, he sounds exactly like the type of ex who would do it.

(2,008 posts)but the image of the New Jersey form seems have a "sign here" sticky arrow pointing to Marla's signature, so it's an appealing speculation.

(19,814 posts)How many people would HAVE a copy of these returns.
It would have to be someone with close access to someone who had them.
Think like Sherlock Homes to find the logical leaker.

(2,315 posts)Anybody with money and lawyers can sue anyone. In his thousands of lawsuits, that seems to be the established tRump pattern.
Many small business owners have spoken out that they couldn't afford the time and expense of lawyers to fight tRump and had to take his settlements stiffing them.
It seems that the NYT has done well verifying the accuracy of the documents which were anonymously sent to them and are well positioned to defend themselves if sued. I assume they can also afford the time and expense of any frivolous suit.
It will be interesting to see how this develops.

(3,040 posts)Then Trump would have to verify, on the record, the validity of the contents of any other tax documents of his the Times may have in their possession. It would be great to have Trump admit that he hasn't paid taxes in nearly two decades.
IllinoisBirdWatcher
(2,315 posts)he would need to supply authentic documents to attempt to prove it.
Since returns are signed under penalty of perjury and his signature is on at least once of these, if he were to provide different forms, then one of the two is perjury.
Since the accountant who prepared these forms has evidently already confirmed to the NYT that they are accurate, I can't see tRump coming up with different forms.
But then again, tRump consistently follows his own special rules so who knows what he will do next.
Thanks for posting.
