Casting a Ballot by Smartphone

One of the things President Obama mentioned in his acceptance speech was the long lines for voting. He said,"by the way we have to fix that." The articles, such as the one mentioned by the title and found here:

http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/11/11/disruptions-casting-a-ballot-by-smartphone/?WT.mc_id=TE-D-I-NYT-MOD-MOD-M279b-ROS-1112-HDR&WT.mc_ev=click&WT.mc_c=199702

suggest all or nothing approaches. It doesn't have to be that way. A ballot could be generated as an app on a smartphone. An individual could fill it out at any time. Once completed, the app would generate a QR code that could be displayed and read by a machine at a polling location. It would take seconds for each individual prepared in such a way and it would maintain security and accountability, by voting at a specified location.

Just thinking...
