House Dems amplify anti-Trump strategy

By Scott Wong and Mike Lillis - 10/02/16 10:30 AM EDT

House Democrats are doubling down on their strategy in the election’s homestretch: Make everything about Donald Trump.

“He is the beginning and the end of the conversation about this election for voters, and we are … making sure that Republicans don’t try to run away from him,” Kelly Ward, executive director of House Democrats’ campaign arm, said in an interview with The Hill.

Republican leaders are insisting their candidates are running strong campaigns independent of the man at the top of the ticket.

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said he had a good feeling the GOP would fend off a Democratic takeover of the Senate and preserve its strong majority in the House. Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) went further, boldly predicting that Republicans would buck the pundits and actually pick up seats in November. But Democrats are doing everything they can to tie GOP candidates to their erratic standard bearer.

could very easily flip this year. The Democratic candidates in those districts, with the help of the DCCC are running ads heavily that tie the Republican candidate to Trump. Minnesota Republicans do not like Trump. In fact, they chose Cruz here in our caucuses.

The Trump connection could easily swing enough votes, especially if some Republican voters sit out the election and stay home. It look promising to me. We could possibly run the slate in Congress here for Democrats.

and sane people will turn out in large numbers to vote not only against Trump and Trumpism but the party that nominated him and made it possible for such a person to be nominated.
