INFOGRAPHIC: The 113th Congress Will Be The Most Diverse In History

The 113th Congress will be more representative of the United States from race to religion, and from gender to sexual orientation. It will look more like America with 4 new African American representatives, 10 new Latinos, 5 new Asian Americans and 24 women in the House or Senate.* It will believe more like America with the first two Hindu congresspeople, the first Buddhist senator, and the first non-theist to openly acknowledge her belief prior to getting elected. It will love more like America, with 4 new LGBT congresspeople or senators, including the first openly bisexual congresswoman and the first openly gay congressman of color. And it will be younger, with four new congressmen born in the 1980s.

She was the second Asian immigrant (of Japanese decent) elected lieutenant governor of a state (Hi.) of the United States. She ran against Linda Lingle for governor of Hawaii in 2002, one of the few gubernatorial races in United States history where two major parties nominated women to challenge each other. She considers herself a non-practicing Buddhist,[1][2] and is often cited with Hank Johnson, as the first Buddhist to serve in the United States Congress. Born in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, in 1947.

Tom Cole, a rethug from Oklahoma who is registered in the Chickasaw Nation. He just got re-elected.

Tom Cole is a fifth generation Oklahoman and an enrolled member of the Chickasaw Nation. He is currently the only Native American serving in Congress. He was awarded the Congressional Leadership award by the National Congress of American Indians in 2007 and was inducted in the Chickasaw Hall of Fame in 2004. Cole's late mother, Helen, is also a member of the Chickasaw Hall of Fame and served as a state representative, state senator and Mayor of Moore in her native state of Oklahoma.

He is co-chair of the Congressional Native American Caucus with Dale Kildee (a Democrat from MI) -

I suspect that a lot of them are part Native, rather like much of the population. Anyone who is "Hispanic/Latino" is also likely part Native. I've never understood why Native Americans from south of the border are given a separate taxonomy and not called Natives??

But, still there are way too many white guys.. Not that there is anything wrong with White Guys. As long as their IQ is higher than Homer Simpson's.
