I was alive in '76 and remember all this stuff about Ford. But what's the point, Rachel?

(26,292 posts)If she'd get to the point, she'd have much more time for detail.

(65,488 posts)sit through a Rachel show. Her delivery drives me nuts. I bet she'd increase her audience if she would stop meandering, repeating, and delaying the point.
LeftRant
(524 posts)has happened before. She and her team research the shit out of things to make sure they're factual and useful. That's her thing.
Siwsan
(26,292 posts).... although the background information is interesting, the redundancy of information in her delivery can get slightly annoying. Say it once, and move on. I have noticed that she only seems to do this long, verbose build up on the first story. The rest of the night, she gets right to the point and the segments contain far more detailed, to the point information.
Of course, I'll add this is all 'IMHO'.

(58,717 posts)she's on Florida now. I think she's tying together the connection between ethnic groups in swing states and presidential candidate gaffes.

(1,317 posts)Plus, the anti-Castros are dying off, and Trump can spin this as foresighted, given Obama's reach-out.

(5,813 posts)Trump and his surrogates are trying to spin the story to say that because he ultimately decided to not invest in businesses in Cuba he is off the hook. But that is incorrect. The cost of going to Cuba counts as spending money in Cuba and they attempted to hide it as a charitable trip. He did violate the embargo, contrary to what he (and his surrogates) claim.

(25,111 posts)The older Cubans are quite sensitive about dealings with Castro which if I read it right happened in the 1990s. That alone will piss off many older Cubans just not in Florida. It was against the embargo plain and simple and 68 thousand is a lot of money for me at least. The President which t-rump has so much disrespect for is the one who lifting the embargo against the approval from Rs and older Cubans.

Florida Cubans are still alive, they still vote, and you better believe they still care.

(7,637 posts)In the process of doing so, she always bring up interesting facts I did not know or had forgotten about it. For example, this evening when she pointed out the giantic gaffe gerald ford made when saying that russia was never dominating eastern europe... The important voting blocks back then were hungarian and polish americans.
I love these kind of stories.

(62,444 posts)It is short attention span theater.
Having watched the previous several minutes, I do not need her to stop and summarize the previous several minutes before advancing to the next several minutes, and then stop again to summarize both of those chunks again, before proceeding to the next, as if I have some sort of short term memory disorder.
I'm sure it works fine if one is stoned, but that's not when I watch the news.

I found tonights show unwatchable after about three minutes. This is happening very frequently now. If she's meandering to the point or repeating the same teaser three and four times before moving towards some point because its a slow news day and she has to waste time, I suggest she assign an intern or staff member check out the rest of the country for issues and news items they can use to take up that time.
If Chris, Joy or anyone from MSNBC is reading this please refer Rachael to this local school, I'll be they have pretty good Journalism classes.
