The vile, evil beauty, I should say.
Whether she comes or not, whether trump raises a related point or not, he's already won the news cycle. Meat Depressed, CBS, even Washington weekly mentioned it. Cable news has it. And all three of my Sunday papers report it. Instead of reporting more lies, more Russian ties, more tax evasion, and abuse of charity funds, they talk about Gennifer. Talk about a swift, but deadly bit of media sabotage by him.
THAT is the evil media manipulator that is the con man, Donald Trump.

(58,785 posts)what to think about real issues will have an opinion on this. The spiteful people won't be affected, but his campaign's quashing of this reveals their belief that it would repel those they are hoping to woo or keep. Of course.

(12,904 posts)This failure kind of hits him where HE lives. He should be winning HUGELY in the tabloid arena. I'm not exactly sure that is the case.

(52,277 posts)I can't seriously believe that he carefully thought, hmm, I want to crowd bad stories about me off the front page, how do I do that? Lessee, I know! I'll look for an opportunity to mention something silly! Wait, did hill just invite that Cuban guy to the debates? That's it, I'll threaten to invite flowers! They'll cover that tweet storm instead! I'm a calm, calculating supragenius!
No, Donnie is a virus. He just does what he does, out of instinct of preprogramming. He's just wired to snap back with crap like that.
It's the media that runs with it. It's their flaw. Trump's behavior exploits this, but not by thought, and more than a virus exploits a weakness in its host.

(47,209 posts)Then more people would care. Blew my mind when chuck Todd said people didn't care- he's one who reports rumors and gossip rather than issues all the time. Ugh.

(31,522 posts)his campaign has spent the day trying to walk it back. I think this is going to backfire on Trump in the long run.

(364 posts)But he has mentioned that he has realized that the first, base, shallow instinct the audience has for anything is the most deep, valuable one. He does everything to appeal to that first instinctive, basal, animal like instinct in us - fight or flight, fear, tantalization, sex etc. He appeals to that knowing that most people are too lazy to use their logical brain.

(5,256 posts)Evil manipulators are not always successful geniuses. And this doesn't look like a win to me for Trump's idiotic, gutter-dwelling campaign. It looks like the opposite. The exact opposite.
One related note: if you push bad story after bad story off the metaphorical front page with this kind of despicably stupid stunt, you're desperate, and you look even worse.

(5,256 posts)This was about as far from a masterstroke as I can imagine. More like incalculably stupid.

(28,017 posts)So far, I am giving the media a D+ this season.
Hillary has been steady, predictable, almost stoic. C+ - B- overall.
As for Der Trumpenfuerher, B+ for monopolizing and putting the media into a professional coma, a D- for honesty and truth, and an F- on the actual issues we face.
I am giving myself a V+

ChairmanAgnostic
(28,017 posts)Smart, obedient, protective, and very interactive. If you played with his ears or scratched his ample chest, he would squeal with delight and try to give you his toys. Yes, he had toys.
Thy had cats, dogs, and this pig, and the pig made them cry the most when he passed.
