The Green party may try to escort candidate Jill Stein into the presidential debates in an attempt to get her onstage, a campaign adviser announced on Wednesday.
Calling for volunteers to take part in protest and civil disobedience in Hofstra, New York, where the first debate is due to take place on Monday, Kevin Zeesa wrote on Steins website: We may decide to have supporters attempt to escort our candidates (Stein and vice-presidential nominee Ajamu Baraka) into the debates. This situation may lead to arrest it is possible but not definite. There will be actions you can take with us at Hofstra that do not risk arrest.
He added: Some people are signing up to risk arrest, others are coming for a no-arrest protest. Let us know if you want to participate in civil disobedience.
The Commission on Presidential Debates announced on Friday that the third-party candidates Stein and Libertarian Gary Johnson had failed to qualify for the first debate.

(58,785 posts)There're many reasons why they can't move off the fringe, but they all start with the dysfunctions of those who find their way there and their lack of what it takes to consistently succeed in achieving goals.
Every time I think about them, I just wish we could purchase the party name "Green." It was once meant to rally people to fight for a sustainable planet.

(3,335 posts)muster up 15% in the polls. At the most she's polling at 4%. The rules for the Debate have been known for more than a year, now. She had the entire primary season all to herself, and failed to get the requisite 15% in the polls so she has no one to blame but herself and the Green Party. If they aren't 15% of the population, then they aren't a political party. If no one knows who she is, it's her own fault. It also wouldn't be fair to the 17 other members of the GOP and Bernie Sanders who campaigned for a year and a half to let these Johnny-come-lately's bully their way onto the debate platform. How many people knew who Barrack Hussein Obama was before 2004?

(92,219 posts)a trump presidency would exert on our country for decades to come
This is about the right to privacy between a person and her doctor, the reversal of citizen's united, halting the further disintegration of the civil rights act which been slowly eroding since the eighties, and so much more.
What do you expect to accomplish? The fact is either Hillary or trump will be the next president, and the next president will select at least the next two Supreme Court appointments, perhaps even a third. The damage a trump presidency is terrifying.
Your predecessor Ralph Nader had that same mindset in 2000, and that resulted in Alito. Nader won enough votes in two states, Florida and New Hampshire, that if that support went to Gore, it would have put those states into Gore's column. Even without Florida, adding Nader's 4% of the New Hampshire vote to Gore's 47% would have give Gore victory in the electoral college.
The consequence were a disaster in 2000, and they will be unrecoverable if trump wins.
Even though Dr. Stein's influence is not as great as Nader's in 2000, that 2% could possibly make all the difference.
Grow up Dr. Stein, drop out and endorse the Democratic nominee
