FEC filings from the months of July and August reveal that the Donald Trump campaign gave Lewandowskis Green Monster Consulting company $20,000 for what was listed as strategy consulting.
Lewandowski was released from his role as campaign manager on June 20, then quickly joined CNN within days. FEC filings however reveal that the $20,000 in consulting fees were paid to Green Monster in the months following his ouster.

(6,587 posts)this out. However, your post there sounds like it was all part of a strategy of the Trump campaign. CNN gets screwed again.

(26,060 posts)the payments were just part of his severance package and they (not anyone with a brain, but CNN apparently) were okay with that. This is a separate payment for services rendered NOW.

(2,315 posts)Not surprising that a campaign manager who assaulted a reporter in public would be double dipping.
Hey, CNN, how about you put a Clinton Exec in prime time for the next two months?

(11,519 posts)All the time, even on the supposedly liberal leaning MSNBC I see tRump people who tell lies, don't answer questions, and persist in talking shit about Hillary without being called out for their tactics. On and on it goes, without so much as contacting a Hillary surrogate for a comment.
Someone on MSNBC was talking the other day about the 5 to 1 spending difference between the campaigns on television ad buys. Hell, Hillary's campaign needs to spend that much just to match all the free TV time tRump has been enjoying.

It's about f*cking time!!! ((Ok, I tried.))

(19,069 posts)Now FOX needs to suspend Hannity until the campaign is over.
Trump has whined about the media incessantly when he had a guy he was paying at CNN, an adviser who is on FOX every night. The guy running his campaign ran the #1 White Supremacy media site in the internet. And another adviser who used to run the largest cable news network in the country.

(34,845 posts)But the network is denying a report from Mediaite that initially blared a headline of Lewandowski being suspended. The story claims he was pulled this morning from appearances on CNN's "New Day" because "the network found out that Lewandowski was still being paid by the Trump campaign, separate from his severance package."
CNN did not respond Wednesday morning to TPM's request for comment, but denied that Lewandowski was suspended to Politico and to the Huffington Post.
Mediaite has since changed the headline on its post to "BREAKING: Corey Lewandowski Pulled From Appearing on CNN Morning Show."

(7,429 posts)When I first posted this story it was just like I posted.
Now they have updated with the following:
Editors Note: Based on information from a high level CNN source, we initially reported that Corey Lewandowski was suspended from CNN. CNN has now gotten back to us and firmly denied that Lewandowski has been suspended, and said that he will be on air later today. We regret what now appears to have been an error and have made changes accordingly, but stand by our reporting that Lewandowski was pulled off the air this morning because of the brewing controversy.

(14,047 posts)let me get this straight. Trump actually paid somebody? Which charity wrote the check?
KewlKat
(5,624 posts)Even after his firing, he kept in close touch with the candidate. The two formed a close, personal bond, and it was really the candidates children who forced Lewandowskis ouster. But recently, especially with the departure of Paul Manafort in late August, hes been re-engaging with the campaign more broadly. He met with Matt Biundo, whos helping run the New Hampshire operation, and offered to be a liaison between New Hampshire and New York. Hes now reportedly listening in on morning conference calls held by communication and political staff in New York, and is generally serving as a resource, especially for the New Hampshire operation, where he has the most institutional knowledge.
Youve heard from New Hampshire campaign staffers for Trump who say theyre consulting with him on a regular basis?
Thats right.
So, its not a formal role, but hes having influence outside the bounds of the campaign?
Yes, and that influence in recent weeks has been growing.
And to be clear, Lewandowski declined to comment and the Trump campaign insists he has no decision-making authority.
Thats right, and his role broadly by people who have been interacting with him, people who have been observing his relationship with the campaign is that its informal, its advisory. Its quiet and behind the scenes.
And this comes as Lewandowski continues to work as a paid political analyst for CNN, where he appears almost daily, vigorously defending the campaign.
What kind of ethical concerns are being raised about that?
Really from the start of his gig with CNN, it was pointed out that he probably had a strict non-disclosure because most people working for Trump have signed a strict non-disclosure, non-disparagement agreement. That makes it hard for someone to comment objectively. The fact that hes still receiving severance pay from the campaign critics say hampers his ability to be a truly objective CNN commentator. And of course, any additional involvement with the campaign only compounds those concerns.
