New Nationwide poll of Latinos: HRC: 71% Trump: 18%

As Latino voters prepare to head to the polls in less than two months, the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund and Noticias Telemundo released the results of the first wave of an eight week tracking poll of Latino voters. NALEO Educational Fund projects that more than 13.1 million Latinos will cast ballots in Election 2016, making support among Latino voters critical in the race for the White House.

If the Election were held today, Hillary Clinton would win Latino voters by a large margin. Results show that 71 percent of Latino voters polled would cast a ballot for Secretary Clinton if the election were today, compared to 18 percent for Donald Trump and 5 percent for an alternate candidate. Six percent reported being undecided.

Donald Trump’s comments considered racist by most Latino voters. More than 72 percent of polled Latino voters reported viewing Trump remarks about Latinos as racist, while only 30 percent believed Trump would bring the change needed in Washington.
Hillary Clinton viewed as experienced, but not perfect. More than 72 percent of Latino voters think Secretary Clinton has the right experience to be President, but some reservations remain among the electorate. Nearly half of polled Latino voters consider her untrustworthy.

Both presidential candidates have some work to do. Compared to the favorability rating for President Obama (72 percent), Secretary Clinton (66 percent) and Trump (25 percent) have some ground to make up among Latino voters. Nearly one-third (31 percent) of Latino voters also reported being less excited about Election 2016 than Election 2012.

Latino voters will be decisive. More than 91 percent of polled Latino voters stated they would more than likely cast ballots this year.

Florida Hispanics are more Republican than Hispanics nationwide because older Cubans tend to be more conservative.

of forming a coherent sentence than he does winning 39% of the Latino vote in Florida.

Despite recent polling, I still think the state is fools gold for Trump. Hillary will ultimately win it by 2-3 points.

I don't think she is untrustworthy. I don't fully trust her because some of her beliefs are to the right of mine, especially on foreign policy. That's different from her being untrustworthy. I don't think she is more untrustworthy than other politicians, although I do think she is too secretive. I think that has more to do with being guarded after all the crap that has been said about her than it is about her actually covering anything up, but it is a concern for me because I want a president whose administration is at least as transparent as President Obama's, preferably more.

Is either naive or too idealistic.

People think it's worse nowadays. But the truth is that the only difference is that the media will actually report it nowadays.

Well, unless your name is Donald Trump.

Hillary Clinton is viewed as experienced, but not perfect. That is your answer. She's experienced, but not perfect. Not bizarre at all.

And Latinos were 10% of the electorate. If she can turn them out in the same numbers and match Obama's number she is in good shape with that group. But I did read that Hillary's campaign has lagged behind Obama's in terms of turnout efforts aimed at Latinos thus far.

Awesome news.

Am I to understand this is the first National polling for Latino voters? Does anyone know if this kind of information will be reflected in upcoming poll sites.

I'm curious about why the Nate Silver 538 numbers bounced up for Clinton yesterday, but are now down the roughly 2% points she was up. Although other polling sites she higher probabilities (yay!!) I admit that I would like to see higher percentages for Hillary at 538.

http://www.univision.com/univision-news/politics/univision-forecast-latino-vote-will-sink-trump-in-florida

Trump's defeat in Florida will stem primarily from the Hispanic vote, since Latinos have a growing influence in the state and show a clear preference for Clinton. According to our forecast, 18% of Florida voters in November will be Hispanic. Of those, 6 out of 10 will support the Democratic candidate.

Republicans still haven't found a way to reach Florida’s Latino voters. In 2012, President Barack Obama won Florida with a boost from Hispanics, and won reelection. He needed 58% of the Latino vote to win the state, but he won even more: 60%.

This article actually looks at 5 states...high Latino population....

the fear that many latinos and immigrants (many of whom have registered and are planning to vote for the first time) have of a Trump win, and will turn out (imo) in record numbers.

The whole 'Hillary is untrustworthy' thing comes from sexist memes that paint her as sneaky and power hungry, memes that come from both the far left and the far right, and the media - all of which her campaign has been ineffective at battling.
