2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumVolunteer!! Make phone calls!!
I had a great Hillary For America guy call me last week asking for donations. I informed him I was donating the 2700 at a fundraiser later in the week.
Before I said that though, he had a good spiel, I could tell it was a spiel, but he was also passionate. It made me happy to hear the call and his passion. I feel bad I haven't been able to volunteer, I end up working every day there's phone banks.
The phone call reminded me how important volunteering is, so if you want to help, get involved!
PS. The one thing I didn't like was he mentioned Trump, I like being reminded the good things about Hillary.

They were calls to "friendly" folks; still it was good to have conversations about Hillary and to remind people to GOTV and get involved. I live in a pretty blue state and would like to be involve in helping out a swing state. Oregon does partner with Nevada, so that might be where I put my volunteer efforts.

(2,550 posts)Good job volunteering, sometimes it's easy to forget that campaigns need us!
That's interesting about partnering, I never knew that was a thing, I thought you could call anywhere.

(126 posts)campaign. In my county they don't mention Trump during the phone calls (I've been to the Dem office and saw the script). I kinda hope most callers/scripts are leaving him out. Here they mention electing Dems down the ticket as well.

Definitely seemed part of the script. I'm in Austin Texas, Travis county.

(34,136 posts)Each phone list is sorted for different things - registered Democratic voters who have not been contacted, people who have indicated a willingness to volunteer but who haven't yet, and so forth. The script for each sorted list is different depending on the group and the intention.
For instance, a few weeks ago when we had a four day event out of my house to train people and send them out for voter registration, and to make calls we were concentrating on getting more volunteers and building the team for the campaign in this area. So our script was pretty much asking if people wanted to volunteer. That will probably be the dominant theme in this area until close to October 11 which is the last day people can register to vote in the General Election.
From October 12 until the GE the campaign is likely to concentrate on getting people out to vote. Early voting starts October 26 and goes through November 5 so we will have a month to get people revved up and two weeks to get them to the polls.
