Chuck Todd held Kelly Anne Conways feet to the fire a bit

I was very impressed with Todd refusing to be diverted by Conway on the birther bullshit. He repeatedly came back to the Trump's extended history on the topic. He also presented her with a graphic of 10 or 12 major issues that Trump has flipped his position on in the past year. Conway is skilled at diverting with a smug smile on her face, in fact I thought she got the better of Bill Maher on Friday despite his similar attempts to keep her on topic. I have never been a Chuck Todd fan obviously but I was impressed today.

Todd's a clever bastard with an agenda who's schemed to misrepresent the race, the issues, the candidates all along, with a goal of keeping the senate and states controlled by Republicans.

THIS disgusting propaganda, for instance, was not just idle thoughts slipping out his lips. It was carefully crafted to breed dissatisfaction on the left and middle by representing Hillary Clinton as every bit as bad as Trump.

I am just a little bit shell-shocked that we are now on the verge of the American public choosing the two most unpopular politicians in America to be the standard bearers for the two major parties. This is uncharted territory. We have never been in a situation like this.

Donald Trump is a unique candidacy without giving you the description I just gave you about the two nominees.Without Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton would have set the record for worst negative rating of the history of a presumptive major party nominee, but Donald Trump is there with an even worse favorable rating.

What I can’t get my arms around — and I think is worth a discussion throughout the night — is: Are we really going to be here for six straight months, six straight months of the two most unpopular people running for president, probably going down a low road, led by Trump — Clinton probably feeling, doing the same thing, and it’s sort of this race to the bottom?

There’s going to be a vacuum here. How does it get filled? There’s a whole group of Americans that don’t want either of these two candidates. What does that mean? Yes, we’ll have hold-your-nose voters, but if there were time, I guarantee you a third-party candidate would get in the race. But there isn’t time. The logistics are very hard. But I just can’t imagine we’re going to sit here for six months and just accept this reality of the two most polarizing figures running, the two most unpopular figures running, as being our only choice.

IF he is being more honest right now, it is only because he thinks it will work better for him.

6. I didn't think it was very honest for Todd to respond to Conway's answer

to the birtherism question as "two wrongs don't make a right". Also he let her go off with her lies about the Clinton Foundation without confronting her with the truths about the Trump Foundation.

The "two wrongs don't make a right" was conceding the heart of the issue. That pissed me off as well.

3. Of all the Trump surrogates available Todd is more likely to stand up to a female.

I am sure if Trump is elected NBC weasels like Todd would be expected to be submissive without regard to gender.

I understand why the birther shit is so nefarious, but I'm a little surprised that they've let the diversions slide for so long and all of a sudden they are going to take them to task for something.

Reporters just don't do enough to stop candidates... or Conway's attempts to immediately shift the topic away from the question asked to the other candidate.
