2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forum1 Day later: Evaluation of insider info
My thread yesterday kind of took off, so I figured 24 hours later I should give a run down on what my source (and by proxy, me) was right about. I'll go line item by line item and give my opinions on how each turned out:
-He is apparently extremely angry at Conway and has given her an ultimatum to fix the mess he feels she made (Why we're now seeing frantic birther press releases coming from his campaign now)
Result: Correct as seen by the multiple attempts to link various Obama and Clinton figures to the birth of birthers (Saw releases on an Obama spokesman, a Clinton campaign volunteer and Blumenthal all being floated to the press. They haven't bit.)
-He didn't want to do this and never wanted to give an answer on Obama's nationality. He was "bribed" with doing it by his team by being given assurances he'd get free advertisement for his new hotel if he held a major announcement there
Result: Word leaked to, I believe, CNN after I posted that Trump was "forced" into this event. I'm going to say this was correct.
-Very angry at the tone the media has taken in the aftermath and feels they're targeting him
Result: He's been sniping at CNN and NY Times personalities all day today. Calling this correct, too.
-Especially livid that the hotel footage was not only not shown but actually erased.
Result: Unknown. Hasn't been talked about. Not sure this one will ever be called correct or incorrect. If I had to guess, I'd be shocked if it wasn't true.
-Is asking to have surrogates accuse the media of censorship of news because of the erased footage and wants to ban the media pool pretty much completely other than those he know are friendly to him
Result: Censorship accusations happened early yesterday, but were overshadowed by the surprising media doggedness to not be sidetracked and then further by the bodyguards remark later in the day. Still was correct.
Media pool was never likely to happen. May have been a rant or something, but there was no follow-through. Call it incorrect.
Still, regardless, he must be giving his team absolutely awful headaches right now. Great times.

(108,978 posts)Has he released other press releases since the nutty one on Thursday? I've looked but haven't found any.
And have you heard any rumors about how Bannon and Conway are getting along?

(1,353 posts)They didn't talk about the birther stuff...wonder if there were conditions before she agreed to come on?
Thanks for all this great insight!

(6,437 posts)Once when the Don flipped out and once when the RNC Establishment flipped out. So, I don't have a lot of personal interaction knowledge.
But Conway pushed for the press conference thinking it would move the conversation away from Trump's non-answer on the birth certificate a few days ago. She thought it would be beneficial. Trump blames her for everything that went wrong as a result.

(10,030 posts)I almost wish the Trump surrogates would start whining about censorship. I think that would backfire on them big time.

My lawyers want to sue the failing @nytimes so badly for irresponsible intent. I said no (for now), but they are watching. Really disgusting
Oh, sure your lawyers do!
Very good, NY Times. Baby steps, but keep it up and you'll be walking someday.

(1,124 posts)his media bridges behind him. Go ahead Trump ... create huge problems for yourself and your mealy mouthed, lie spewing surrogates. I will welcome that!
