I had to look up what the heck she did to set him off. The last time she wrote a column in the NYT was on August 27th so that wasn't it. All her tweets were of her various appearances hawking her book so since he was whining about CNN, I checked that appearance out (from the above link).

And given her penchant for false equivalencies, apparently her book is entirely that.... meaning that he isn't glorified in the manner that he would want.

This morning in interview, M Dowd was quoted as saying Trump told her that violence at rallies added excitement. Also, a former assistant to Dowd, Alex Thompson (now at Vice News), was arrested outside trump rally (while awaiting feedback on his press access request) in Houston early afternoon today. Don't know for a fact that the latter is related, but timing is interesting, at least.
