2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumwingnut CAVERS have put up a false web site for Omaha Steve
http://www.electstevedawes.com/Go take a look. These attacks on Steve are the same kind of thuggery that has gone on for years. These are some of the same people that (they admit!) killed Andy Stephenson and (even today) characterize that campaign against Andy (gay, DU-er, voting rights activist) as a "job well done."
A web site was constructed when they attacked Andy. It was called "scamdy.com" and used false registration information for the domain name. It was owned by a man identified on DU at the time as Fred Grady, of Nebraska. "Fred" lives near to our Omaha Steve.
Now they are attempting to google bomb so that this site comes up when anyone looks for Steve's campaign site.

(13,905 posts)Very strange place. Damn! They must really be a bunch of losers.
grasswire
(50,130 posts)....but they from time to time insert themselves into the real lives of DU-ers, simply to harass those who hold politics different from theirs. Some might call that un-American, eh? They can't win in the marketplace of ideas, so they resort to thuggery. Some years ago the same crew interfered in the DU grassroots fundraising for beloved DU member Andy Stephenson and delayed his medical care. Because he was gay? Because he was a voting rights activist? Because he was widely adored and admired? Andy's medical treatment was delayed; he died. Today one of this crew characterized that effort as a "job well done."
There you are. Thugs.

*****ANNOUNCEMENT FROM franksolich*****
Okay folks, a reminder here before the primitives get all upset and bent out of shape, especially the grasswire primitive, who might overdose on those magnesium supplements.
I was made aware that www.electstevedawes.com had been launched about 6:30 p.m. today, and have since confirmed some details.
www.electstevedawes.com has no connections, social, political, professional, with the other three candidates in the race for the Bellevue City Council, Ward 1.
www.electstevedawes.com has no connections with conservativecave; it was written as a personal favor to the big guy, because he was kind of slow in getting his message out, outside of conservativecave.
Individual members of conservativecave might, or might not have been involved as individuals, but place no onus on conservativecave, none of whose resources were used in doing this favor for the big guy.
www.electstevedawes.com is showing up on these pages here in the DUmpster forum of conservativecave as part of the mission of the DUmpster, a public service for the Good of Humanity.
That is all.

(50,130 posts).....if you remember how their slate of candidates looks at the top, compared to the Democratic slate.
They have just losers and clowns on the presidential ticket for the GOP. No prayer of winning the election in November. No prayer of America validating the failed Republican ideology.
So they take the inner rage out on a small-town candidate for city council in fly-over country. That's the only election they have enough amassed clout to influence (apparently).
Playground bullies? Or people who hide behind white sheets? It's all the same blind hate.

(146,324 posts)It's a toxic bunch over there. I hope there's something that can be done to pull that fake campaign site down, but I'm not optimistic. Campaign site spinoffs are awfully common and I haven't seen any that were removed. Disgusting behavior on the part of that franksolich screen name. Is he this Fred Grady? I don't know. Could be.
grasswire
(50,130 posts)Of course it's possible that's a fake name as well. He's too cowardly to present himself to the public. I'm surprised that hiding under the name of the real Frank Solich hasn't been stopped by legal action. Defamation of the real Frank Solich, it is.

(50,130 posts)Imagine for a moment that Skinner forms a posse of DU-ers to go after a candidate for local office in a small town nearby because he hates the candidate's politics.
Members of the posse obsess, gathering every scrap of history they can find on this obscure candidate in this inconsequential obscure locale.
They throw up a web site with all this data. They fling poo. They hiss and howl and hoot.
Could anything be more impotent? More indicative of delusion?

(1,068 posts)Just organize and march in front of their political HQ. Make sure every campaign worker KNOWS that we KNOW they are there to support a repressive republicanist, and that passers-by understand the repressive, undemocratic issues that the candidate we are marching on would carry out if elected. Usually, it cuts down their volunteer staff in half. We have won many close elections here in the LA area using such strategies.
Conservative websites are for losers anyway. Let them beat off all they want, it's their 20 bucks for the domain name. When Steve wins they will go back baying to Karl Rove's moon again.
BanTheGOP
(1,068 posts)I have talked to a GoDaddy representative, and they said that in cases where the obvious attempt of a website is to deflect search engine results of legitimate search requests, they can remove ownership of the domain and either make the site dormant, or transfer ownership of the site to the real owner (in this case Steve Dawes). But they have to get the request from Dawes himself. All he has to do to provide proof is to show them the offending site, as well as the posts at other sites that are intended to manipulate the search results.
Actually, this happens more routinely than most people. While it's ok to have opposition sites up, it's NOT ok to manipulate legitimate search requests so that your site comes up. This is ESPECIALLY true for republican scum sites who try to hijack legitimate, progressive sites like Dawes.'
Hopefully, Steve's campaign manager will be able to make the arrangements. This is crucial, because though Steve will most probably win Ward 1 handily, the way the wingnuts are trying to obviously usurp this election through digital terrorism is not only juvenile and sophomoric, but a complete bastardization of the progressive democratic process.
And THIS is why the republican Party MUST be banned...pure and simple!
grasswire
(50,130 posts)There is certainly ample evidence at conservativecave of intent to manipulate search results. Ample evidence.

(97 posts)I came across that cesspool doing a google search for something unrelated to politics, and the hatred there just blew me away. Luckily I happened upon DU as well. I usually don't go for political boards, but what I have seen here I like a lot. I usually prefer to spend my time on sites for people like me, who are transgender, but looking at DU I know I can post in peace here and not have people harassing me for being who I am. Oh and I tend to rant on on and sometimes lol, so please forgive me in advance, thanks.
