For those of you who might hear the phrase "professional left" or some other euphamism

and wonder if it applies to DU, I say no, it doesn't. We are just Democrats. Democrats who believe more in the constitution than the so-called Tea Party does. We aren't even close to getting our country back to what it was before Reagan. But we are a good deal closer in some areas. We have stopped the hemorrhaging. We have installed a properly functioning NLRB and it is now hearing cases and deciding in favor of labor. That's not "professional left". That is properly functioning government. That is a core Democratic value. Workers having a say. Labor having a seat at the table. The professional left believes in the EPA (we've got a lot of work yet to do there). Protecting our air and water and such is just simply a Democratic value. The professional left believes in Fair Trade rather than just Free Trade. That's just a Democratic value. The "professional left" believes in protecting workers pensions rather than turn them over to Wall Street to play with (since Wall Street helped create the Bush economic meltdown). So don't let them get to you with all that "professional left" talk. It just makes them feel better. Personally, it makes me feel better too, to be considered a professional because of my Democratic values.
