IL-13: Matt Goetten (who appears to be a corporate tool) beating David Gill (who appears to be a good progressive)

Commentary provided for those unfamiliar with the candidates.

Good to see Jesse Jr. doing well. Too bad Sheyman is trailing, though.

Don't know enough about the rest of the candidates.

than her opponent but that might be ok for that district.

Sheyman might do better in a few years with a little seasoning.

good to know Foster is likely a good candidate.

I thought I'd heard Duckworth was on the conservative side.

As long as she votes Nancy Pelosi as Speaker and replaces that deadbeat POS Walsh she will do a lot for that district. Raja tried to bomb from the air with lots of TV commercials and robocalls that I think did more to hurt than help him. Tammy had a lot of name recognition and this was definitely a case of selecting the candidate that had the best chance of winning. Duckworth should beat up Walsh real good...

very close race, with a margin of less than 150 votes.

Goetten has refused to concede pending the counting of absentee, provisional and overseas ballots.

It was a poll they did for MoveOn.org, and it was apparently an outlier.

Frankly, I never expected this district to vote for a 25-year-old. That's a tough stretch for a lot of people, especially in well-heeled communities like that where many of the voters have kids who are older than the candidate. Besides, this is a district that's sent a Republican (Mark Kirk and then Dold) to Congress for the last dozen years, and that's with the help of Democrats. It's been redistricted, but I don't think enough to change.

But not to worry: he's got his name out there now, and he's got plenty of years to get into the political business.
