2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumYou know what, I am glad Hillary stood up for me, and called out racists, sexists, xenophobes etc.
I am glad someone articulated that voting for trump demonstrates these deplorable values.
I'm glad her follow up comments where more of a clarification and less of an apology.
Racism, xenophobia, sexism, homophobia all impact me, and I am glad that someone as powerful as Hillary said what she did.
Thanks Hillary.

(31,902 posts)I've heard too many people say -
"He (Trump) is just saying what people are thinking but can't say".
She just said what I was thinking but a racist inbred trump supporter will beat me up for saying.

(11,260 posts)The reason a lot on the left don't trust Hillary is that she so carefully hedges all her proclamations. There is always an out based on her prior statements - eg - the fracking response she gave in the primary debates versus Bernie's unequivocal answer is a good example.
The "deplorables" comment was totally unhedged. She took the risk of saying how she really feels. For me, it paid off. I trust her more now. More of this please! On any topic.

(113,576 posts)so much ugliness for it.

(11,260 posts)The polls of trump supporters thoughts on the marginalized back up her "half" assertion easily.
I was never a big Hillary fan, but I like her a lot more now.

(81,500 posts)She stood up for me, and she spoke for me! Loud 'n' clear!
Besides, we're not supposed to be into political correctness anymore, right? That's no longer in vogue, right? We "tell it like it is," RIGHT? Isn't that what the Trumpsters and other assorted Deplorables have been pushing?
This all takes me back to an email my late mother's boyfriend sent around (MANY obnoxious knuckle-dragger emails he sent around, but this one took the cake), the subject of which was "Why can't I say the 'n-word'?"

(20,588 posts)and encourage racism, sexism etc. but Democrats cannot! She drew a line and good for her. We stand for certain things - period.
Media has allowed the racism of the last 8 years to grow unchallenged to the point where there is an actual George Wallace/David Duke candidate running for the presidency.

If they had their way Pri, you and I would be in a small windowless room breathing poison gas.
