Barber inches ahead in uncalled Ariz. race

Democrats are now on track to net eight House seats, as the party on Friday took the lead in a yet-to-be called Arizona race.

With election officials continuing to sort through uncounted ballots, Arizona Rep. Ron Barber inched ahead of Republican Martha McSally, who had been holding onto a small lead. The latest tally has Barber up by 486 votes. The race is one of seven whose outcome has not been determined.

As of Friday afternoon, the Associated Press had called 194 seats for Democrats, and had them leading in all seven uncalled contests. The AP had called 234 seats for Republicans.

Should those results stand, it would mark a small shift in the House. Democrats went into the election with 193 seats and Republicans with 242.

If Democrats gain eight seats, the party would need to net 17 seats in the 2014 election to attain the majority.

3. You apparently don't live in Arizona

You apparently don't comprehend, "Every Vote Counts."

This truly affects Arizonans and the stranglehold the Teabaggers, religious right and yes, I will say it, even the Mormons who control our state. Arizona has Governor Brewer, a SOS (who tried to keep Obama of the Ballot), Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, etc., etc., all infamously known world-wide because of their lunacy and tactics.

6. No, I don't live in Arizona but I have family members there.

And I fully realize the importance of having as many democrats elected as possible. I was simply reminded of our loss of Gabby and saddened by it.

By the way, my relatives in Arizona have to cross the border in to CA to visit me because I refuse to even set foot in that state until both Brewer and Arpaio are relegated to historical facts that we would rather forge.

2. The more Democrats

the fewer Republicans that who will need to be shaken loose from the lockstep. Democrats have to take every opportunity to make it difficult for Republicans in appropriate districts to vote with Boehner and Cantor. Make them vote on popular things, present popular things, force them to have have to vote on, organize their constituents to flood them with support for those things.
