In response to Donald Trumps latest praise of Vladimir Putin, independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin suggested on Friday that the Russian President may very well have some major dirt on the mogul.
The #NeverTrump longshot candidate appeared on CNN, where he explained that Putin is one of the worlds most destabilizing political forces, despite what the Trump campaign says about him being a strong leader. The former CIA operative also made a point of bringing up several of the troubling developments Trump was facing just before Paul Manafort left his campaign.
I hear from some of my old intelligence friends that Donald Trump has been engaged in some activities in Russia that Vladimir Putin may be using to blackmail Trump, McMullin said There is a lot going on there that I dont think has come to light fully
You can see it in Donald Trumps actions.
When John Berman and Kate Bolduan asked McMullin to elaborate, he eventually pointed to details like Trump supporter General Michael Flynns connections to RT America. Trump recently appeared on the Kremlin-sponsored network, where he refuted the idea that Russian agents couldve been responsible for hacking the DNC.
Hes got other staffers
so the proof is there, McMullin said. This is absolutely objectionable and an American president should never have these kinds of warped views of a Russian authoritarian like Vladimir Putin.

(50,986 posts)quest for the presidency is yet to gain much traction. It's possible that his "old intelligence friends" know something the rest of us don't, but it's also possible that this is snide patio chat from an ex-Agency hack.
The Weekly World News once ran a front page headline:
'Bigfoot rescues baby from burning trailer'.
If you believe there is such a creature as Bigfoot, that a given trailer had been set ablaze, that all its adult residents fled for their lives leaving their child behind to die, and that Bigfoot, happening to be in the neighborhood at the time, heard the baby's screams and pulled the infant from the burning trailer -- then you might just as well believe Evan McMullin's account of blackmail -- which he seems to suggest is factual ("...so the proof is there" .
In McMullin's defense, I doubt most of could demonstrate that Putin is not blackmailing Trump, or that Bigfoot did not rescue that baby from the burning trailer.

(11,175 posts)It's really depressing how biased people are. You can oppose Trump without thereby automatically crediting everything negative you hear about him -- including, as in this instance, that one of Trump's political opponents claims that anonymous sources told him that something "may" be happening.
Also, my sources tell me that Bigfoot may have been wearing a "Make America Great Again" cap during the daring rescue.

No one can depend on The Donald to react in any one way, or half a dozen, much less the one way desired. And Donnie normally doubles down on objectional behavior in response to disapproval.
He supposedly encouraged The Donald to run for president (yoooge mischief!) and no doubt has been enjoying that. Putin probably was behind getting the Republican platform changed to benefit him in Ukraine, but when that became public knowledge and was dismantled, what did he lose? Nothing, presumably, although perhaps Obama gave him a sharp poke we don't know about.

(42,770 posts)Like Trump, Flynn has advocated forging closer ties with Russia. In interviews with The Washington Post, Flynn acknowledged being paid to give a speech and attend a lavish anniversary party for the Kremlin-controlled RT television network in Moscow last year, where he was seated next to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
People went crazy, said retired Brig. Gen. Peter B. Zwack, a former U.S. military attache in Moscow. They thought it was so out of bounds, so unusual. Zwack emphasized that he considers Flynn a patriot who would never sell out his country.
