2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIs the Washington Post's editorial about Clinton's emails "Better late than never? I don't know.
The WP ran with these stories about the emails for the past year, just like the rest of the lame stream media and now that the stories, the lies and the exaggerations have taken hold within the nations' consciousness, the WP says, "the email story is out of control" and it's all Matt Lauer's fault. Well no shit Sherlock. What did you expect would happen when you repeat a lie long enough. I'm not so sure I can be so quick to forgive and forget. The repeated stories about the emails have caused grave damage to Clinton's political campaign, and to her reputation with the public. Where do you go to get that back?
Clinton has said from the beginning that she didn't send or receive classified emails on her server. Prior to James Comey's remarkable Press Conference, the media repeatedly ran with these sensational stories day in and day out concluding that Clinton had done just that. Now that the 7 Billion people who occupy this planet has heard repeatedly chants that "Clinton lied" and "lock her up" the WP wants everyone to step back and consider whether or not the media has gone too far and that the email story is now "out of control".
As a former DoD employee who dealt with classified information, I have said previously as Clinton did, that Classified documents have special markings on the top and bottom so that there is no mistaking what one has in front of you. As a government employee I can expect to get 40 or 50 emails a day. Who has the time to scan the "contents" of an email to make sure that there is not something classified in an email, where classified email should not be. That's ridiculous.
The onus has and always will be on the "ORIGINATOR" of a document to make sure that the document is properly marked, and that the intended RECEIVER of the document has the proper clearances to receive access to that information. A little investigation by the WP would have allowed the WP to provide some perspective to their readers that what Hillary was saying made sense.
