but if they had to choose, it would be Hillary... and for them to come out and say that would kill any future in the new republican party.

There are still a not insignificant number of Bernie supporters who are not committed to voting for her yet. Yes, most of us are, but the number who are not could be enough to tilt the balance in some key swing states. The absolute last thing she needs is an endorsement from the Bushes. I don't think it would help her much with moderates either, given how unpopular Bush was when he left office.
