Related: About this forumIs The MSM Giving Trump Too Much Credit?.....
I keep hearing how savvy and smart Trump is when dealing with the media. That he has all this TV experience and he knows how to pull their chain and deal with them.
My question is the media actually making Trump out to be more than he is?
I see a baffoon that doesn't know what he's talking about and he just B.S's his way through whatever is thrown at him - be it a primary debate; a TV interview; a CIC forum; a press conference; a speech; etc.
His baffoonery is so out of the ordinary and never before seen - that the media doesn't know how to deal with it and in fact give him the credit that he is savvy and smart and is doing all that he is doing on purpose - knowingly and willfully.
I think the media is making Trump to be more than he is and not Trump making Trump because he's so smart. Am I too far off base here?

(466 posts)Trump is a fool, but our media pretends that he is a statesman because they are afraid of what he might do to them if they speak the truth. The bottom line is they need to protect their jobs. The spineless media is to blame for the entire sorry spectacle. Our country is nothing but a carnival side-show thanks to the whole sorry lot of them. Together they are destroying the country.

(58,698 posts)Trump is a fool about anything dealing with presidential resposibilities. He is not a fool about how to dominate the cameras and mikes on a TV set in a semi-unscripted format.
In our modern reality TV reality, Trump is the dominant face on almost any screen, and his "antics" are designed to make that so and keep it so. Ms Clinton is not comfortable in that sphere and doesn't want to play that game. Hell, I don't want her to play that game. But that's why after the conference the other night, everyone was pointing out her lack of "style" and "presentation" while Trump got high marks for that crap. Right now showmanship is trumping quality, pun intended.

(23,966 posts)cover him fairly, and he'll cut you out of covering his campaign at all, and you lose audience share and ad revenue
cover him on his preferred slant, you might just be enabling his victory, thus ruining the USA and you lose all your money anyway
so the trick they have to manage is acting like they're giving him the coverage he likes until they can turn on him without significant repercussions, but it's awfully hard to tell when that point will be
