Texas Republican Wants State To Leave U.S. Over Obama Win

A Republican official in Texas called for his state to separate from the United States and the “maggots” who reelected President Barack Obama in a newsletter he sent out this week. Peter Morrison, who serves as treasurer of the Hardin County Republican Party, wrote in his post-election newsletter that there was a clear solution to the problem of Obama’s re-election.

“We must contest every single inch of ground and delay the baby-murdering, tax-raising socialists at every opportunity,” Morrison wrote. “But in due time, the maggots will have eaten every morsel of flesh off of the rotting corpse of the Republic, and therein lies our opportunity.”

“Texas was once its own country, and many Texans already think in nationalist terms about their state. We need to do everything possible to encourage a long-term shift in thinking on this issue. Why should Vermont and Texas live under the same government? Let each go her own way in peace, sign a free trade agreement among the states and we can avoid this gut-wrenching spectacle every four years,” he wrote.

The contents of the letter were first reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Morrison also wrote that “many members of minority groups are simply racist against the party most white people happen to vote for.” He singled out Asian Americans, who he said should be Republican “as they earn more money and pay more in taxes than white Americans.”

3.2 million votes. All of you in the "good riddance" camp, stop and think about that. There is more Obama love in Texas than many of your states combined.

Get your own military, money, streets, schools, banks, and pay taxes on imports from other states, passports, and government. I hope they do all that, and Mexico invades and takes it back.

Oh and they MUST be tattooed as a GOP Texan so they can't crawl back when Mexico invades.

... give statehood to Puerto Rico and we won't even have to change the flag.

I would like to see the Texans reimburse the United States for all the infrastructure we've built for them ... and for moving Johnson Space Center and for the military installations the U.S. has there.

Other than that ... 'Bye Y'all!'

I would not complain about having 32 fewer Republican electoral votes and getting rid of the Texas Congressional delegation. Granted, I think Texas will become a swing state in ten years, but in the meantime, I would be happy to be rid of them.

That is a higher percentage than Alabama, Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, N. Dakota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, S. Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, W. Virginia and Wyoming.

Morrison is being a typical Republican in ignoring this reality. Calling 41% of his own state's voters "maggots" is not a good political tactic, to say the least.

There is no provision for them to leave. Once in the union, always in the union. That matter has already been settled, and no President will allow the principle to be violated. What would Lyndon think?

Jim Bowie, one of the defenders of the Alamo, was a dealer in slaves. Many Texans still have that same mentality.

The south is already a swing state and would have voted for Obama this time by about 40,000 votes. The north would have broken about 2-1 for Romney. Unfortunately it would strand Dallas County

I would so love to see this state in my rearview mirror but my CPA husband insists he can't leave his clients. Never mind that there are such things as computers, tablets and smartphones that make having a virtual office a snap.
