Jesse Ferguson @JesseFFergusonNEW VIDEO from @CorrectRecord - "Donald Trump's Pay-to-Play Scandal"
On the campaign trail, Donald Trump talks a lot about ending pay-to-play politics.
Maybe he should start by looking in the mirror.
Yesterday, The Washington Post revealed that this year Trump paid the IRS a $2,500 penalty for using his own charitable foundation to dole out a $25,000 political donation to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondis reelection effort. Just one day after receiving the check, Bondi chose not to investigate allegations that Trump University had ripped off at least 20 former students in Florida.
Trump laughably styles himself as a crusader against corruption. But his own (very recent) record is littered with scandal, illegal campaign contributions and the appearance of the very pay-to-play politics he rails against.

(2,108 posts)Whatever you're guilty of doing, falsely accuse a democrat of doing that first.
Know that a pay to play story might come out about the Trump Foundation? Accuse the Clinton Foundation first.
It creates this misinformed air of "both sides do it." And the general public never digs past the headlines anyway so it becomes imprinted on the maligned candidate, regardless of the pushback.
I know, not news to the DU Crew...

(85,996 posts)...the Clinton camp has baited Trump repeatedly, and he's bitten every time.
What this does is pull Trump out into the open on bribing the Fla. official to keep Trump U. out of court; shines a light on the fake school's shady practices; provides another opportunity to put the Clinton foundation in favorable context; and draws attention to the illegalities surrounding it all.
This is a very smart, Democratic campaign.
