Heedless of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump describing Mexicans as rapists and calling for a ban on Muslims entering the U.S., Trump surrogate Chris Christie pointed the finger at former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for injecting race into the campaign season.
Appearing on ABCs This Week with host Martha Raddatz on Sunday morning, the New Jersey governor lashed out at Clinton for her speech earlier in the week when she attacked Trumps courtship of white supremacists and the so-called alt-right which traffics in blatant bigotry.
Asked by Raddatz if Trump was correct in returning fire by calling Clinton a bigot, Christie neatly sidestepped the question and hammered Clinton for unfairly pointing out the obvious. Ill tell you this. This type of discourse in the campaign is just unwarranted, but it was started by Mrs. Clinton, Christie insisted. Mrs. Clinton has started the idea of calling Donald Trump those type of names, and the fact is that once you are the person, and Mrs. Clinton is the person, who injected this type of commentary into this race you cant then sit back and start complaining about it or have some of your handmaidens in the media complain about it.
The fact is shes been the person who started this type of conversation in the campaign, he continued. She should be ashamed of herself.

It would have been fine with him if she had disparaged blacks, Latino, Muslims, etc. How dare she mention the fact that Assface's campaign is a recruiting operation for white supremes.
Where is your dignity, Gov. Christie? Did you leave it on that bridge?

(3,426 posts)chances were before he entered the republican race for the candidacy. Before he jumped in he said ,he doesn't know where it's all going but he's going to give it a whirl. He practically admitted he knew the odds were stacked up against him or that he was facing impossible odds. But what he was avoiding all along the way was facing the truth in New Jersey. So his campaign was a way out of facing up to the massive pile up of all that had come down the pike as the saying goes.
If there was a back door Christie could step out of in secret of course, he would make the great escape -walking or running away from Trump. But he can't do that because Trump owns Christie.Aside from that he has no place to run or hide. And he has no better offers or a better deal elsewhere. Stick a fork in that? Trump will do that in the final act. Actually they are all going to fry burnt but good.
Christie thought he was on the ground floor of something good when he sold himself out.But now he sees every time he turns around ,Trump picks up one outcast after another .Even Christie doesn't understand why it is nobody seems to want to connect up the dots.
Trump is assembling all the pariahs ,it all adds up to implosion - The great vindictive assembly.
Trump believes the GOP disrespected him and for that he seeks revenge.
This guy got there early ,that's why he says, he got the seat directly behind Trump. That lie was pre-arranged same as that seat was.
They just can't see it and Trump knows it ,or they don't want to- see it for what it is so they won't,and Trump knows that.
It is not about what they cannot see,it is about what they will not see or realize.
