2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIt's hard to keep cool about the election
If you look at the facts coldly, we could not be better positioned. The prediction sites have us between 80% and 95%. Our opponent is not clever-and-evil (Nixon or early Rove) -- he's a proud, rotten dope. The polls are in our favor; you have to go hunting for bad ones. Virginia is not a swing state -- it looks safer than Rhode Island.
But it's still too long till the election. I have an irrational fear that some mysterious, unexplained swing in the polls will happen. Or some pseudoscandal will come out of nowhere, and then a feeding frenzy by the press, and add a couple of lazy voters on the left, and Bam! Trump is president. Or, against all logic and odds, Trump is a masterful poised debater with all facts at his command. Or some nitwit like Maureen Dowd lands upon a new bitchy meme against Hillary that unfairly sticks.
Which is a long way of saying I wish my mind had more sway over my glands. Wish I could look away from the television, donate every other week, and not worry. It makes very little sense, it's more an OCD tick than any kind of ratiocination, but I can't shut my worries up. I tell people to keep cool, to not fret, but when I keep cool myself I'm totally faking it.
Oh well. November is not that long away. . .

It'll be okay. Donald Trump is not going to be elected president.
