Clinton’s e-mail ‘scandals’ are pure fiction - Boston Globe

When it comes to the Clintons, the most mundane actions can be raised to the specter of national outrage, because of the appearance, but not actual incident, of impropriety.

Take, for example, the imbroglio over newly released e-mails regarding interactions between the Clinton Foundation and the State Department when Clinton was secretary of state. These exchanges, primarily between Clinton’s assistant Huma Abedin and Clinton Foundation top honcho Doug Band, have become Exhibit A in efforts to brand Clinton as a corrupt figure and the Foundation as a pay-for-play operation. The evidence, however, speaks to a different reality.

In 2009, Band reached out to Abedin and asked if she could help put a Nigerian businessman of Lebanese descent named Gilbert Chagoury – who had donated to the Clinton Foundation — in touch with “the substance person re: Lebanon.” Chagoury apparently wanted to pass along information about upcoming elections in Lebanon. Considering that State Department diplomats glean information and intelligence from civil society leaders, activists, and business people on a regular basis there’s nothing particularly untoward about the ask. But because Chagoury is a Clinton donor, there’s a scent of scandal.

So what happened? Abedin told Band she’d reach out to Jeffrey Feltman, the acting assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs at the time. Yet, according to a Washington Post article, Feltman says he never met or spoke to Chagoury, and “No one ever told me he was seeking me out.”

The author goes on to refute each example of potential conflict/impropriety/whatever that has been in the media of late. This is going to be my go-to piece whenever someone asks me about Foundation conflicts.

I watched the hearing in full, and I recall something that I haven't been able to confirm after the fact. Don't know if you watched it, but weren't the 3 emails with the little (c)'s determined by the State Department after the fact to not contain classified material after all? I remember a discussion to that effect, but I'm just not sure if it pertained to the 3 with the incorrect Classified markings (lack there of) or some other emails. I also recall one of the Dems on the committee asking Comey if he was aware that the State Department had determined that those "classified" emails had not contain classified material after all, and Comey replied that he was not aware of that.

I don't know if I'm mixing stuff up or just remembering things inaccurately since it has been so long. I thought something about that would have been brought up in the Newsweek article, but it wasn't.

Do you remember any of that?

Yeah, 3 out of 30,000 had (c). You are probably right about even those ones not being actually classified material.

State dept attributed to human error that 2 emails mentioned by FBI with classified markings did not actually contain any classified info.

When you tell me WHAT it is you think was hacked through her email service, I might start paying some attention. And while you're at it please EXPLAIN how it would have been "unhackable" on a government server.

When you get all that, I will listen to your droning on and on.
Until then STFU already and let's hear what you have to offer.

She is whipping this story with every fiber of her being today. She's not about to let the facts get in her way either. Even though her guests disagreed with her - she wasn't going to let stop her from delivering her Clinton hater talking points.

The establishment media, all of them, tend to take the Republican political games as real, and spread their manure all over the place. They always believe the Republicans, no matter what they say or how ridiculous.
