Sykes is a huge part of the Gov Walker and Republican machine--and it is a big vile machine in WI. Although this hate radio pertains to WI, Sykes, is indeed responsible, among many other RW vile mouths in WI for getting Trump where he is. Yet, he has been questioning Trump's vile ideas. But--as the article points out--it is because he fears Trump will drag down other Republicans--like our Tea bagger Sen. Ron Johnson. Worth the read, IMHO

Charlie Sykes conscience is nagging him.
Since last year, the most influential political talk show host in Wisconsin has found out just how hard it is to be a #NeverTrump conservative on right-wing radio. Ever since Sykes began denouncing Donald Trump on the airwhich he does just about every time he talks about the presidential electionhes strained his relationships with the listeners of his daily radio show.
Sykes many arguments with listeners over Donald Trumps serial outrages has exposed in much of his audience a vein of thinkingracist, anti-Constitutional, maybe even fascisticthat has shaken Sykes. It has left him questioning whether he and his colleagues in the conservative media played a role in paving the way for Trumps surprising and unprecedented rise.
A few days before the Wisconsin congressional primary in early August, Sykes seized on remarks by Speaker of the House Paul Ryans opponent, Paul Nehlen, that raised the idea of deporting all Muslims, even American citizens. Its the kind of inflammatory rhetoric that has become the norm during a presidential cycle that has featured Trumps calls for immigration bans on Muslims, loyalty tests and mass deportations. Friendly and round-faced guy with glasses, Sykes, 61, doesnt even try to conceal his disgust, but a large segment of his listeners, like Audrey from Oshkosh, are eager to defend ideas that Sykes believes violate fundamental conservative principles.
Yeah! Let me make a comparison, and I dont mean this in a bad way, Audrey says. Theyre talking about phasing out breeding of pit bulls. Well, not all pit bulls are bad.

(617 posts)"Dumbing Down our Kids" around the time our kids were entering elementary school, and it was a reasonable, informative book.
Of course, it was written from a conservative point of view, but it made valid points.
It's been great to see that he actually has some integrity. He represents the kind of conservative that I believe used to be quite prevalent, who disagreed on policy points but was open to persuasion and compromise. We need more of those conservatives in Congress now. (In the minority of course! )

(617 posts)...I didn't mean to post a positive reply on your thread, because I totally can understand why you'd feel that way. As I said, I read the book and agreed with certain points. But I certainly get your point of view too.
