Paul Ryan Is Still Standing By Donald Trump. Sad! Gives Trump Credibility

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has yet again decided to give Donald Trump a pass, telling reporters the GOP nominee was merely joking when he suggested that gun advocates take matters into their own hands to stop Hillary Clinton from appointing Supreme Court justices who favor gun control.

“I’ve been a little busy today,” Ryan said after easily winning his primary Tuesday evening. “I heard about this Second Amendment quote. It sounds like just a joke gone bad. I hope he clears it up very quickly. You should never joke about something like that.”

GOP leadership is the power behind Trump's command of the media narrative. Ryan and gang are afraid of Donald Trump. These are the same chicken politicians that would be afraid to challenge a leader like Benito Mussolini. Think about how all of the GOP leaders duck and hid during the GOP primary season. Nobody ever challenged Donald Trump from the GOP side.

Donald controls the GOP leadership, because all are genuinely afraid of Donald Trump.

Trying to explain away outrageous Trump remarks is always a losing strategy, and there will be more of them to come, equally indefensible. Ryan should disavow the goofball for good. As odd as it sounds, Ted Cruz looks like the most reasonable one of the bunch for refusing to endorse Trump at all.
